I made a lot of gravestones for men that were ” going to do something “, and ran out of time.
I worked in a union shop and watched many guys bust their asses grabbing all the over-time they could only to wind up dead less than a year after they retired. I went the other way, I paid off all bills and went to part-time because full time was extremely taxing on my mental health. All those guys scratched their heads and asked me why I went back to part-time…my reply was simply ” because I can ” didn’t want the money, didn’t want the pressure and preferred my time over company time.
