Ah, now we know the origin of the term “duplex outlet”. Of course, for a while there in the swinging 60’s and early 70’s, a couple of outfits made those rectangular, ungrounded triplex (three outlets in one) receptacles. Often found in “Medallion Homes” that were popular in some parts of the country. I just worked in a home last week that still had a bunch of those installed. Had to run a cord from two rooms away just to get a grounded connection for my sawzall.
Should be called inlet though.
I must be a fuddy duddy, the only reason I write on the outlet cover is to identify the circuit breaker it’s on.
