Steve P special place in heaven for you. I love husky’s, those crystal blue eyes have always amazed me. Childhood friend had one, great dogs.
Had one as the family dog when I was a teenager. They are prima donnas no doubt; look good (and know it), proud, and both too smart and too stubborn for their handler’s good. Strong as an ox, mouthy (they love to “talk” much more than bark) and sneaky.
In short, they can be fun and interesting dogs, but can also be a pain in the ass if you are only accustomed to “normal” dog breeds and their attendant behaviors. If you’ve had Golden Retrievers or Cocker Spaniels, and then get a Husky, you are going learn some hard lessons, quickly. Oh, and the shedding…hope you enjoy cleaning house, because when they blow their winter coat, you’ll have hair everywhere, even if you brush them out routinely.
They are fun dogs, but my advice is to be ready to butt heads. Getting a husky properly trained is almost like breaking a horse.
Aloha, Big Rukus, Loki is our 4th husky. We attend lots of obedience class for socialization.. Groomers every few months. he get and gives lots of love.
Nice. They are great dogs, if you are prepared to deal with their “personality” and energy level. Many people aren’t, and get them just for their looks, then end up frustrated trying to live with them. Loki’s coloring and facial markings are much like the one we had (30 years ago now), he’s a handsome devil.
I knew an idiot liberal chick that owned 4 huskies. In PHOENIX. Because she liked the way they looked. The dogs were miserable.
