one thing my Dad told me often was to” watch out for the stupid”.
yup. he said if you plan on people doing the dumbest thing possible and
guarding yourself against it. you be alright most of the time.
funny thing is, he was right about it. when driving, expect the moron in the other car/truck/whatever to do the dumbest thing possible has saved many times so far.
the wife thinks I have eyes in the back of my head or something.
way too many times I stopped or slowed down in time to watch some moron plow thru lights or stop signs in front of us. I really don’t even make much about it anymore. just another day. problem is there is a LOT of stupid out there these days. and after cell phones came out ? God it got worse fast. it worse that driving
after the bars close down and the drunks are going home.
When I got my motorcycle; my buddy told me to ride like every bastard holding a steering wheel was actively trying to kill me and to plan accordingly. Saved my ass several times.
Racing circle track dirt cars taught me to anticipate wrecks and evasion techniques better than any state mandated defensive driving course. I still always find myself running “what if” scenarios in my head while going down the road.
Paying attention and eliminating distractions is the biggest thing. Applies to driving, and life in general.

When the light turns green, I never touch the accelerator without looking both ways to see if anybody is running the red light and fairly often, yup, here they come.
Sometimes I have scared the shit out of myself.
Stupid just irritates me.
It doesn’t scare me as it doesn’t afflict me.

Fear is something you can control in your life. Stupid is all around you and you have to keep your eyes open all the time.
My problem is that it seems that the stupid are all around me.
Being stupid is kind of like being dead: you don’t notice, it’s everybody around you who suffers.
