  1. back when I still lived in Philly, you had to have a lookout stand guard while you worked on your ride. yup. got so bad that I gave up working on anything near the street. my brother had parts stolen by cars passing by. yeah, they slow down enough to grab something and then speed off. btw, this kind of shit started back in the mid-late 1990’s. got so bad I got a garage with a 30 foot parking space in front that was fenced off. that was where my dog was. he kept them out of the front yard.
every now and then I find baited hotdogs there for my dog. funny was the fact they all smelled of antifreeze. you have to just love the “homeboys”
here the weird part, after 2-3 years there. they stopped. guess it was because I was fixing kids bikes. yeah, kids came out of nowhere to get their seats adjusted.
wheels or flats fixed and whatever. shit stopped after I started doing that.
about 10 or so years later, I was closing up and 2 guys, late teens/20’s stopped to help me move some stuff to the curb. I could have swore I never saw them before. but they told me I had fixed their bikes for a few years. ?
kind of weird really. but then again, not many of these kids had dads or even uncles around when they where growing up. but yeah, they will steal anything they think they can getaway with. doesn’t matter if they can use it or even sell it.
they just don’t want you to have it. whatever it is never made any sense to me at all. my neighbor ‘lost” his lawnmower, rake and broom along with his gas can one night. I guess some asshole “went into business ” ?

    • I had the same thing happen to me in Chicongo. I stopped for a flat, got out and opened the trunk when I heard somebody park in front of me. I looked around, and there was a person, with tools, saying to me “You can have the spare, man. I just want the battery”.
