Lord, grant me the serenity to accept stupid people the way they are, patience to maintain my self control. Wisdom to know if I act on it, I will go to jail.
Lord, grant me the serenity to accept stupid people the way they are, patience to maintain my self control. Wisdom to know if I act on it, I will go to jail.
The daily prayer.
Many years ago, I heard it as:
Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change
The patience to change the thing I cannot accept
And the wisdom to hide the bodies of those I had to kill,
because they pissed me off.
And help me to be careful of the toes I step on today,
As they may be connected to the ass I have to kiss tomorrow.
Also pertinent:
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
And the road you’re trudging seems all uphill
When funds are low and debts are high,
When you try to smile, but can only cry
When life is getting you down a bit,
Don’t come to me, I don’t give a shit.
I don’t think that’s how that prayer goes.
And it’s called the serenity prayer, and we all need a whole lot of serenity
Amen.
