I live in SC and cost per gal of regular is around $3.86. The most of the cost is not to the oil companies, but to the government and the gas station owner. The oil companies make about 2 cents per gallon profit on the refined gasoline and then they are taxed.
Yup, we just hit 4.999 yesterday in SW MI. There were (maybe) some mitigating factors, the major refinery/distribution point for fuel in a 60 mile radius of South Bend IN was hit by storm damage which took out power to same. This was a contributing factor (we are told). Went from 4.299 to the new high literally overnight.
Methinks it is going to take another wave of attacks on infrastructure and possibly exact location of “yellow dust” storage with destruction of same before Iran capitulates and crude prices maybe start to come down. Waiting out people who have zero attachment to reality (as in the remaining power structure of Iran) does not seem like a good plan any longer. Sigh!

The F-350 is sitting in the driveway with 5 gallons in the tank. It will sit there until diesel is less than $4 a gallon. Diesel is $5.69 here in south Georgia. Regular is $3.79.
