Met the late R.V. Burgin at the Ft. Worth gun show some years back. Bought a copy of his book, which he autographed.

Bought mine at our local gun show in Chico, CA decades ago. It is an Eddystone with the original barrel dated 5 – 18. It also has red paint at the front of the forward handguard from its service in Britain during WWII. The Brits painted the American lend-lease M1917’s to distinguish them from their nearly identical P-14’s chambered in .303.
That P-38 is at Planes Of Fame museum at Chino, CA. The museum works to make all of their aircraft airworthy. It was 2016 I think when all seven airworthy Lightnings gathered in May for the airshow.
I saw and touched one of them In Okc downtown air park for a paint job when I was an early teen. About 1971 or 2. Oddly is was a blood red color but there was a reason I don’t remember
It might have been a recreation of YIPPEE

It was the back cover that folded.
I have been searching for a copy of a 1976 issue that featured Ted Kennedy at a convention podium, the view was down an isle in the center, Ted barking nonesense, and when you folded it a woman appeared, from the back, mostly skeletonized, covered in seaweed, looking at Ted, holding a sign that read “Chappiquidick”.
It doesent appear in the official archives, so I think the K family paid the publisher to kill it off.

A pic taken while Wayne was filming Rio Bravo. My dad had an autographed copy in his office, by Wayne and Hayes. He adored Wayne. Just a random day on set where they were all in the area, according to the story I got. He almost got Cooper to sign it as well, but something something. It was a great piece in his office for many years.
