  1. Miss Manners (Judith Martin) liked to point out that etiquette is simply the means by which we can live around fellow humans. She said that there is no more strict code of conduct than your average street gang, where the wrong hand gesture or article of clothing can get you killed.
    Southern manners are a very refined suppression of violence. “Yes, Sir!” “Thank you Ma’am!” or suffer the consequences of not doing so.

  2. what we used to say was “grew up with mom watching”.
    you do the right thing. or get wacked upside your head !
    kind of a lost art form today. manners and honor is lost on the present set of kids today.
