’58 has always been my second favorite of the 50’s Chebby’s, after the ’59, and not counting the Corvette’s. You be the judge if that’s a form of mental illness or not.
I miss my dad’s 55 wagon, we went all over Europe in that when dad was in England (59-62).
I miss my 57 2dr HT and 57 4dr HT, they were restorations of love (back in 73-76).
Real good cars, heavy, rugged, did not have seat belts until I installed ’em.
265 and 283 “mouse” engines. 0-60 in about a week, slip-n-slide with Powerglide transmissions until I took the 2dr to a Muncie “rock crusher” manual.
yup. had a 55 Belair. looking back I wished I never sold it. yeah, like many others I swapped out the inline 6 for a V-8, older small journal 283 block punched out 030
over and dropped in a 327 crank. ended up like 311. had a holly 3 barrel on top
jetted it to 348 CFM and that baby ran !
had a lot of fun with that car.
Oooopsie!
The white one in pic 9 is actually a ’58.
You’re right! How did I let that slip in…. I wanted to test Igor, he is the 55 to 57 aficionado.
Get your shit together.
Drove a 55 210 in high school

I can judge that… Yes, you are mentally ill, take two Corvettes in the morning and drink plenty of beer.
I’ve owned two ‘Vettes, still have the second one, and have in the past drank more than my share of beer. Doesn’t seem to have helped much. Now what?

Thems were fun times!!
Kids today will never know about Powerglide transmissions, a.k.a. “Prindle’s” (park, reverse, neutral, drive and low).
PNDLR
The ’57 Nomad is one of the finest vehicles ever from the American manufacturers.
I will take any car of that era over ANY of these new computer driven vehicles. Older is always better.
Nice cars, but the ’59 was the real beauty.

Dad had a 57 Buick Special 2 door.
I’d heard there were 57 ways to open a beer bottle on a ’57 Chevy.
We found most of them.
Remember it fondly and well. But . . . rust!
