They need to spread the word, this is 100% accurate.

My last one always asked what I thought, then would go through every detail explaining why I was wrong – especially if emotions were at stake. Finally, over a three-week period, I asked three separate times if there was anything I could do that would ever make her happy. Each time it was a no, so on the last one I said “then we are done,” and I walked out the door – even left.my clothes.
Oof. Sounds much like one of my ex girlfriends from way back. It didn’t start out that way, of course, but after about 6 months she turned into a relentless bitch. I chalk it up to some sort of psychological issue, but who the hell really knows? I did much like you, and asked her point blank what I could do differently that wouldn’t have her constantly pissed off. When she the me a wishy washy answer that was tantamount to nothing, I said “fuck it, I’m out.” Thankfully we weren’t living together, and I had a minimum few things at her place (toiletries and the like) that I wrote off. I returned the few things she’d left behind, which included a PlayStation2 (that I’m pretty sure she pilfered from a previous boyfriend), and then went full no-contact.
Amusingly, about a year later, she tried crawling back to me all tearful and shit (and with many more miles on the odometer) after her next squeeze not only gave her the big kiss off, but apparently a knuckle sandwich as well. Needless to say, I wasn’t having it.
True enough. But [far too many] modern women seem to think it is, based on my own experience, and what I have witnessed other men go through. And as a man, I can only be beaten down by an overly demanding, non-contented woman so many times before I check out for the sake of my own self preservation. It took me almost 20 years to learn that lesson. Some guys never do, and keep trying, usually to their own detriment.
I can’t speak to the female point of view, obviously, but I never expected a woman to make me happy. She could contribute to my “happiness”, but none I’ve been involved with were ever seen by my as the sole source of my emotional state. That had to come from within.
A girlfriend or wife could only serve to enhance it, or damage it, based on her own behavior. Conversely, any man expecting a woman to make him happy (when he isn’t otherwise), is deluding himself.
The ex filed for divorce and once I decided I agreed it was just a math exercise. The ex said I acted like I didn’t even care and I said “I’m not acting”.
At my first meeting with my lawyer he started asking me questions about the marriage and I stopped him and said “I’m not here for marriage counseling, we’re doing this.”

I admire that.
Me; 37 years back, my response to a similar situation was to walk out and quietly return to active duty on the opposite coast. Alone.
It ain’t your job to make her ‘happy’ or vice versa.

Willingness to walk away is a superpower. Well done sir.
