A Nice Ride!

My friend Steve from Up North sent me these pictures of a truck his neighnor has. It’s a beauty!

“Neighbour got a new toy.”

“1970 GMC… rebuilt 350 smallblock with 3000 miles on it…..4 on the floor…. pickup

All original except for wheels and tires and radio…radio is replica of 1968 to 1972  unit  that came with the truck”

  1. Oh my, what a lovely veee-hickle. Could use higher profile tyres, those wells look a little underpopulated.

  2. Nice restoration and I’m SOOO pleased to see that it hasn’t been stupidly lowered!

  3. Very nice, now, box frame/add a front axle/add a transfer case,4″ lift and wagon wheels with 33’s and you are good for go!

While not kidding tis a very nice ride, just a 4×4 truck guy meself.

I saw a mint Chevy 71 4×4,feel original paint at tackle shop, almost stopped but knew would try and buy it,admired it and moved on.

  4. As a Ford guy, I just have to say, very nice.
I can’t help but notice the master brake cylinder. Add year appropriate power disc breaks and it’s a much better daily driver. If it’s a hanger queen, it’s fine.
I wouldn’t kick it outa bed.

  5. Nice truck. I wish I had the ’71 Chevrolet I once owned that was almost identical to this one. Like a lot of guns and cars that have slipped through my fingers during my lifetime, I wish I had it back!

    • also…he sold his 2020s(not sure what year) truck for 18k and got the GMC. Previous owner of this GMC wanted $28k but knocked it down to $20k if he took it right away. Sold!!

Neighbor said he wanted a vehicle that he could do maintenance on himself and not have to deal with all the computer shit that comes with todays vehicles

      • Sweet deal. I would have jumped on that too.
        Thanks for the pics.
I wish I still had several of the vehicles I got rid of when I ‘thought’ I was upgrading.

  6. She’s a beaut for sure, but I would have that truck bed destroyed in no time. I need a workin’ truck.

  7. What if one of the US automakers design, built and marketed a pickup truck that did not have air bags, low impact bumpers, collision avoidance systems, GPS, computerized climate control, and only minimal emissions control that was not computerized in any way? And only had power brakes, power steering and AC? Sort of a vehicle that the owner could work on him- or herself?

    I can dream, can’t I?

I bet they would sell like hotcakes.

  8. No pollution control bullshit there. How long before ottowa shows up on his doorstep?

    Excellent redo Phil, beautiful

  9. Had a ‘68 stepside, 3 on the tree and a 250 6 cyl. Ex Dept of the Interior work truck, still had the stencil on the sides. Limited slip though and a very low rear end ratio. Didn’t even have a radio. Needed something bigger for work. Sold it for a 74 with a 454. That thing’s body was falling off but it ran fine. All the power in the world and 10-12 mpg.

  10. Damn…Nice truck.
Something like that here in NJ would cost a mint to buy or restore.
