White Supremacy Strikes Again!

I’m sure Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Maxine Waters and D.C. Mayor Bowser are all booking emergency flights as I type to go form protests.

I am not going to bother to go search out the genius behind this.

I am too busy shaking my head in wonder at the amount of stupidity involved here because it is off the scale.

We are talking World Class Idiocy here.

But hey, Climate Change! and all the related horse shit, right?

This is what you get when you listen to shucksters and grifters.

A whole bunch of someones out there are actually paying for this shit with the tax money they pay and I would bet money they never voted for it.

It just boggles my mind.

  1. When I was a youth in the 70’s, we lived in a middle eastern country. Once a year in the Spring, we would whitewash the roof (flat roof architecture) so the summer sun would not make the house quite so hot. It works. The Winter rains would wash it all off. Literally: Whitewash, rinse, repeat.

  2. L.A has been doing this for a few years now…

Say… Maybe painting all black PEOPLE white would lower the Earth’s temperature! Yeah; I know; RACIST!!!! Still, it’s just as stupid as painting the streets white… Hell; why not just make the roads out of concrete??? That’s almost white… Nah, but that wouldn’t provide the handoff to whoever’s brother in L.A , is selling the paint…

  3. well, it might be one of the very few things they do out there that may make sense.
my uncles left there in the 1980’s as it was getting stupid for them.
it a wonder they didn’t use silver paint.

  4. Nasty Pelousy will also arrive, she would never miss an opportunity to spew her vitriol.

May as well install mirrors on the sidewalk to reflect the sun, it will have the same effect, which will be very little. Stupid fuckers.

  5. And where do these Einsteins think those calories go once they’ve been reflected? All that “reflected heat” (Wow, 10 degrees! Really?) that would otherwise be absorbed quickly by the roadway and then released slowly back into the atmosphere after sunset is simply going to be radiated into the atmosphere IMMEDIATELY.
Net delta in heat: not a damn thing! Jesus fucking Christ, had the, no doubt, Urban Planners (a field that has been utterly taken over by idiots in my view) thought to consult a high school physics teacher this entire project could have been shitcanned prior to spending a fortune. This is the very definition of a boondoggle.

  6. Jesus wept…..

The amount of energy expended to produce, transport and apply this outweighs any benefit. As noted above – a nice heat reflector does benefit – the area directly below it. But LA ain’t trying to cool homes under the road. Instead that heat is going to reflect right back into the atmosphere, including into the homes, cars, and people around it. Making the earth heat sink less effective might even make the nighttime desert temps cool enough that people will run heaters where they wouldn’t have before – more energy waste.

They would have been better off with more leafy trees – a drought resistant low water type. The shade effect over the city would have greater return. Incentivizing the population through various means to plant and keep those would have cost the city virtually nothing as well.

  7. @Matthew, it’s not that simple. Atmospheric absorption isn’t 100%. If it were, then no solar radiation would reach the pavement in the first place. Therefore, some of the reflected radiation will escape into space.

In general, as anyone who’s spent time outside on a very cold, but sunny, winter day can attest, sunlight doesn’t do much to warm up the air, by itself.

  8. But, but, but… what about all the streets that are painted with “BLACK LIVES MATTER”? Will those be spared? I’d love to hear the discussions about that, hehehe.

  9. I’d settle for ’em painting the CENTERLINEs on all the streets.

Thanks to the EPA and its insanity, the paint they now use for lane markings is now “environmentally friendly” and washes off after 4 years. The stuff they used to use was a whole lot more durable ( at least a decade) AND they also could stick little glass beads in the mix for greater nighttime visibility.

    Idiots.
