Back then they were probably taught difference Between Yield Strength and Tensile Strength in high school and had faith in what they did, or the moonshine was really good and they didn’t care
Having worked in manufacturing most of my adult life, there is a time and place for OSHA. If we did OHSHIT stuff we made sure ‘plausible deniability’ was instituted.
Well, the 8 ton of gravel getting hauled by an F600…Stake body was kinda dumb, but I was getting paid n really didn’t care. Nobody even lost a windshield either.
Hauling a pallet load of bottled Molson plus the rest of the co-op load in a normal Chevy van with the tires pumped up to whatever that stupid pump topped out at was a fart away from OHSHIT. Kinda funny when the guy got the forklift to set it in the van an the van sat down tho. If he hadn’t centered the load nicely, I wouldn’t have finished the route that day.

Guardian angels are getting bored in the last 20-30 years. Used to be very busy before seatbelts, helmets and OSHA. I’m proof of that.
