The name of this holiday is “Independence Day”, not “Forthajuly”.
We don’t do this minimizing treatment with any other holiday – Christmas, Memorial Day, etc. Yet, of all national holidays, this is the most important one. (Yes, I’m distingushing between national and religious observations.)

I note that Nearly half (46%) of Americans don’t know what America’s 250th anniversary commemorates. We can blame shitty public schools, but maybe if the word “Independece” got used with regularity, some folks might get a clue.
