Because why in the fuck would anyone spend $100,000 just for a carbon fiber body copying a damn 1969 Ford pickup?

For $100k I could buy a fairly nice ’69 from the western states, go through the mechanicals, do some body & paint work, and still have $70-80k in my pocket.
It helps that I do my own mechanic work, but you could have one done for under $50k, I’d bet.
$70-80k left…I don’t think so. I’m building a ’67 right now and a properly built FE will cost you $15k alone. I had to strip the frame down and treat and coat it and that’s a lot of hours. New coilover suspension all around is about $8k plus a 9″ rear. Don’t forget a Tremec TKX for $3k and associated hardware (add another $500) Now we talk paint and body work. Paint has gone WAY up in price. A gallon of some decent paint will run $500-1k. If you do a special paint, count on $2-5k/gal. With how many rust holes I have in this cab, I’ll easily have 200 hours into the body work. These projects take a LOT of time and a LOT of money and you can never sell them for what you have in them. But I do love this body style and the old FE will push it down the road quite well.

Well said; I just wish that Series Land Rover owners could read well enough to cope with that . . .
I can build an old Ford FE a lot cheaper than that in my garage. I’ve done it. I don’t want coilover, I want the old Twin I-Beam front, and about a 9″ Ford rear.
I was talking about building one to more or less stock condition. I’ll grant you paint’s gone outrageous.
I meant to say I don’t want independent suspension. My mistake.
I have a feeling the guy with the hat and “special” socks is into some kinda pecker measuring contest.
Those two talk like a pair of dorks. Painful to listen to.
Never trust someone who sounds like they have two marbles in their mouth when talking.
Yeah, those socks stood out. Total dork.
Me, I’d take a clean metal body, a straight six and three on the tree. That’s all I need to be looking good.
Way more money than common sense.
Look at how much Velocity charges for their trucks. $250k – 320k for a Bump Side – and they use steel bodies.
That’s why when you see a sweet custom truck they never have a price on them. If you have to ask, you can’t afford it.

That’s a whole lot of machineguns and ammo he missed out on.
Or my nephew with his Jaguars….

At 75, my bucket list Ford would be ANY 65 to 79, F-100/150 (equal length Twin-I), with a Baja prerunner, chassis prep, stock body/interior, with a nice, mild, 300hp, 351 Cleveland, 5 speed manual, 3.25 limited slip rear end. Might get 15+ mpg. It would haul ass and corner great. It would still be a truck.
