Generally speaking, around here in farm country a handshake is still regarded as a binding contract. Of course there are a few who you can’t take their word for anything and they’re known and avoided. And then we get to others who won’t go to the bathroom without being accompanied by a shyster. Dad told me more than once that if I dirtied my name, it was permanent and that is a fact. Most of us try very hard to not let that happen.
If you’re honorable, shysters will try to damage your reputation to steal business.
