I got stopped for 11 mph over in a 30 Mph zone in my wife’s SUV. I had my range bag with my 1911 in it in the passenger seat. I had my right hand through the steering wheel, left hand out the window with driver license and carry permit, 4-ways on, and engine off when I pulled over. The cop saw I had a CDL and asked what my hurry was and I told him I missed the sign dropping the speed limit. He also wanted to know why I had a CDL at my age and I told him I drove the church bus. He said he was going to save me $500 to fix a speeding ticket to a non-moving violation as this area was the towns speed trap area. He knew how truckers keep a clean driving record, according to what is reported to insurance companies or I just got lucky.
I agree with the sentiment but a crime doesn’t require an injured party. Gambling, prostitution, loitering, possession of contraband are all victimless crimes.
My answer to “Do you know why I’m stopping you?” would be “Is this a trick question?”
Because it is.
Don’t play games with me, and I won’t play games with you.
See you in court, Officer. And if you bother to show up, you’ll loose.
I’ve played this game before and haven’t lost yet.
Almost 60 years driving, with 12 seasons driving commercially (logs, lumber, low bedding) and I have zero moving violations on my record. Partly because I showed up to defend myself, when Officer Friendly didn’t show up because he was counting on me not to.
Lots of crimes don’t require an injured party. Maybe you think they should, but that doesn’t affect how the law actually works.
These “sovereign citizen” type arguments never actually work. Private theories about what the law should be don’t impress the police at all. All they’re going to do is get you in more trouble.
Talk to EMTs or Emergency Room personnel about how speeding doesn’t have victims. My brother was hit head on, fortunately his airbags worked, by someone going to fast around a corner and they lost it. Roads are designed with a top speed in mind. I’m tired of my tax dollars being spent because idiots think they can do whatever they want. Some limits are set because of kids, or even livestock. We all raise cattle in my neighborhood, and there is always one who goes walkabout. Last year the leader took 7 followers with him as a mini-herd.
I propose you can opt out of getting a ticket. But, no more EMTs for you. Hit an animal and you pay for the animal. Hit a kid and it’s capital punishment. Sounds fair.
Called “Road Pirates” for a reason.

You missed the point. Read and comprehend what the victim is saying.
