My wife’s father was a mechanical genius. Made his own ironworking machines from scratch, sold some designs to some national companies, all self-taught with an 8th grade education. He could take one look at a machine, and duplicate it without notes or making sketches. My wife, on the other hand, despite being one of the smartest people I know, barely understands which end of the screwdriver to pick one up with.
I asked him about this once, how it was possible. He just chuckled and said, well, she’s your problem now……
