Dunno. Those eyes, those brows… looks like liberal psycho chick.
My thoughts exactly. Further, the hard core MAGA types who still breathlessly worship Trump at this point have their own serious shortcomings. They have a huge blind spot, and are incapable of levelling any criticism at their “savior” by simply making an honest assessment of his job performance and follow through on the things he promised to do, versus the obvious replacement agenda he’s been following, that has emerged over the last year.
These are the sorts who will not tolerate any mention on how badly he has screwed things up, and seem to be emotionally stuck in time at about the point of the Butler PA rally, when bloody eared, fist pumping Trump was riding high in public sentiment. A lot of shit has transpired since then, and almost none of it favorable to him in the minds of those who can think enough to be honest about the state of things under his leadership.
I have a buddy who still thinks dicking around with Iran was a good idea, because “nukes!”. He has no comprehension of the fact Iran almost certainly already had nukes, and will continue to have them, because they wisely built their facilities under mountains where our most advanced weapons can’t touch them. Iranian leadership may be assholes, but they aren’t stupid.
That means a ground invasion is the only way to get to and destroy them. We can’t do that, as we don’t have the juice for such an operation, nor the stomach for the level of damage we’d take as a country if such a plan were undertaken. As it stands, we are bankrupting ourselves to try to kick Iran’s ass in a proxy war for israel.
We will win nothing, and will spend ourselves into a depression trying to do the impossible. People who support this are cutting off their noses to spite their face with their own economic ruination already in progress.
Bottom line, intransigent ideologues of any poltiical stripe are a pain in the ass.
Sure enough, D. And what about you? What are your serious shortcomings? What are your own blind spots? Can you make an equally honest assessment of those as well, or are you perhaps looking at things through a one way glass?
I believe I can, as evidenced by my lack of blind, devoted support for and praise of any particular politician (which behavior a LOT of people on both ends of the spectrum are still clearly locked into). I can also legitimately claim to have evolved I my political thinking over my adult lifetime.
I’ve always been what most would undoubtedly call “hard right”, but I see many others on the right being stuck in rah rah republicanism like it is still 1984 and Reagan is still the man sticking it to those stinking commies. Others drifted leftward in their tolerance for and acceptance of things like forced diversity via mass invasion, relaxation of their expectations for fiscal responsibility (who the hell even talks about the deficit anymore, or the consequences of rampant profligacy, outside of hard asses like myself) and just generally being accepting of the bullshit Trump has been shoveling recently.
I was fully supportive of Trump in his first term, at least until COVID showed he didn’t have the juice to be a true leader when it mattered most, and he proceeded to let career fuckup functionaries destroy the country with lockdowns and unquantifiable damage to the economy, health and long term well being of Americans. The stain that has left will never come off, at least until the last person who lived through that experience is dead and buried, taking the institutional memory of that with them.
I was tentatively supportive of him – with major reservations – for his second run (which he was cheated out of, and did essentially nothing to resolve; but did let his supporters and even his putative friends like Giuliani get fucked with ruinous lawsuits and prison time for their efforts). So, by the time of his third run, I was done with him, and neutral at best on his reelection; if only because the alternative of an actual dick sucking, cackling whore being president made me want to puke.
At any rate, Trump had been found wanting too many times by 2024, and was a known quantity based on his actual record by then, so nothing he is doing this term is particularly surprising to me, even if it is disappointing. As we proceed further into his second term, in which he no longer is even bothering to pay lip service to any of the principal positions he ran on, my disgust for he IS doing only continues to grow,
Do I have blind spots? Maybe. But I apply enough critical thinking to my assessment of current events, and those driving them, that I can be viciously critical of those who are deserving of remonstrations for their massive screwups. As one who once voted for Trump, and now sees him for the failure he is (and actively calls it out), I consider myself well ahead of those who still think Trump is “their guy” and is doing things for their benefit.
The only people truly benefitting from Trump’s present policy focus are billionaires like Adelson, tech bros, israel and the MIC (and of course there is much intermingling of these interests). So, I can only conclude those who still practically worship Trump like it was still 2020, are incapable of making any change in their view of politics, which they still treat as binary, almost like a match between two rival sports teams.
No matter how badly the record of losses is, these sorts will forever support “their team” with the fervor of a religious belief, as if it was a moral imperative never to level criticism against “their team”, or it’s coach.

Good commentary Big Ruckus D – thank you.
