  1. This was a bit before my time, but I remember some piles of Schlitz cans in the trash cans at the ranch after a gathering occurred. Y’all have my condolences. :^)

My Brother drank a lot of Milwaukee’s Best back in the day (cheap buzz)- maybe it and Schlitz are related ?

  2. I liked Schlitz. I even liked Hamm’s and Pearl. But as a practical matter, Schlitz has been unobtainable for years and years. Corporate suicide.

Miller High Life is getting hard to find. To paraphrase Colonel Kilgore, I love the smell of Miller in the morning. One of these days, that beer will be over.

  3. Up until the rise of craft brewers, post-Prohibition American beer mostly sucked. Prohibition had a lasting effect on the brewing industry.

I don’t recall drinking Schlitz. Bud, Michelob, Carling Black Label, Grain Belt, PBR, Milwaukie’s Best, Ranier, and Oly, until I discovered good beer. After that, sometimes Coors, Bud, or MGD, which still are not good beer.

  4. I’m 61, and I can recall my gramps drinking Schlitz. Glad he wasn’t around to see the demise.

  5. Here’s the punch line to a baseball joke about a relief pitcher by the name of Mel Famey:

“That’s the beer that made Mel Famey walk us!”

  6. So they change the formula to save money, people don’t like it, and it’s the beer drinkers fault they are losing money?
