  1. the first one pan meal maker. I have one as well. never use it anymore though
for one thing, it weighs a ton if full of food. I think the last time I used it was back when the kids where still at home. like maybe 20 years ago ?

  2. We have one at camp that, I think, is bigger than that. I’ll have to look at the bottom or measure it next i’m there.

  3. Looks good, but some drawbacks, as dave in pa. mentioned. Unless the gent is holding onto a hand grip with his right hand, and it does not look like he is, with that short handle means it is unwieldy whit stuff in it like paella or steaks with veg. BK indicates the BK Dutch company, makers of the original Dutch oven I think, so it is good quality, not Chinesium or Taiwanacrap. Nonetheless, I would gladly add it to my collection and use it to cook over wood fires and serve right from it. Someone call Cowboy Kent; Bertha would love to hug that pan reeaaall close!

  4. We don’t have one quite that big We do have a standard diameter that is a deep skillet. That sucker is darn heavy when full.

  5. THAT is a proper piece of cast iron! Damn near makes my 12″ skillet look small. I’ll bet she does weigh a ton loaded up.

    • I got hold of a 14″ cast iron skillet in South Dakota before I left and moved back to the Glorious Socialist State of Ore-gun and asked Phil if he wanted it, sure enough he did. I need to get it him soon. It does weigh a friggen ton and I am sure when filled with cooking food a lot more. I don’t need or want something that big. I am happy with my 10″ skillet.

      • Nice find! Folks usually don’t wanna part with those old bigguns. I’m sure Phil will put it to good use.

I finally bit the bullet this summer and ordered a new 6qt camp style Dutch Oven, direct from Lodge. The thing weighs 18lbs empty, so it won’t be going too far from the truck, unless I get a pack mule, hahaha…

They’re still made in Tennessee and the price was alright, especially with free shipping. When I opened the box I found that they’d thrown in a 10″ skillet, for FREE! That made the deal extra sweet.

        • It was! Phil is gonna have to clean it out and reseason it, but no pitting or voids. Why I couldn’t pass it up.
