Phil’s favorite Birthday response…

This makes me wonder just how many Normies out there are starting to see the light.

62 complete revolutions.

Holy Fuck.

One step forward, two steps back as usual but I did manage to use the old Smithy today after I messed around trying to get the slop out of the table.
I was about half successful doing that as you will see.
What I forgot to mention is that there is a Split Nut under the table for the Lead Screw that has a small screw up in one corner you can tighten to squeeze the Split Nut together and that takes the Back Lash out of the threads in the nut.
That little screw had backed almost all the way out.
But I did make some progress today.
I got some T Nuts shaved down for my little Rotating table so that I can proceed to the next step towards getting the Z axis DRO mounted.

Aaaaakshoooly, I will never be much more than a flea on a Machinist’s, Dog’s, Ass, no matter how long I fool around with this stuff.
But it keeps me out of the taverns.
While the Wifely Unit and her Fam watch Sportsball today, I am going out in the garage and try to adjust 3/4’s of a complete turn of Back Lash out of the Cross Slide on my little Smithy 3 in 1 Combo machine.
I was out playing with it yesterday and Bad Things Happened.
I was well aware of the Backlash issue but didn’t put two and two together.
I sent a link to the video to Irish and he was kind enough to call me and ask me if the table had moved and if there was a bunch of Back Lash in it.
The proverbial AHA moment ensued.
Fuckin’ Rookie Mistakes.
I Haz ‘Em.
So now I have to dig around and find the video I watched a while back that explains how to adjust that slop out.
I did it once a long time ago but I obviously need to do it again.
It won’t take long because I was at least smart enough to save that video on Youtube.
Then I have some T Nuts that just got delivered to skin down a bit so that I can finish the project that started all this.
Getting the Y Axis DRO mounted….
