1961 – FCC Chairman Newton N. Minow gives his Wasteland Speech about the crap on TV:
But when television is bad, nothing is worse. I invite each of you to sit down in front of your own television set when your station goes on the air and stay there, for a day, without a book, without a magazine, without a newspaper, without a profit and loss sheet or a rating book to distract you. Keep your eyes glued to that set until the station signs off. I can assure you that what you will observe is a vast wasteland. You will see a procession of game shows, formula comedies about totally unbelievable families, blood and thunder, mayhem, violence, sadism, murder, western bad men, western good men, private eyes, gangsters, more violence, and cartoons. And endlessly commercials — many screaming, cajoling, and offending. And most of all, boredom. True, you’ll see a few things you will enjoy. But they will be very, very few. And if you think I exaggerate, I only ask you to try it.”
He’d have LOVED Say Yes to the Dress.
I don’t know how this is going to work but following the link from The Burning Platform, we find this straight from Tucker Carlson.
Yeah I have a problem with some of what he says.
Twitter is the last great bastion of Free Speech?
Bullshit.
Allow me to present the fact that The President Of The United States of America was kicked off of Twitter.
Full stop, I rest my case.
There is no need for me to bring up the THOUSANDS of Conservative voices that were Shadow Banned and Outright Banned, at the request of Public Servants, Shadowy Government Officials, Intelligence Agencies and Zealous Twitter Employees over a period of SEVERAL YEARS.
So good luck to ya Tucker but ya might want to be a little more careful when Rah Rahing Twitter when we on this side of the political spectrum feel that it’s more like a Government Sponsored Echo Chamber rather than some inclusive love fest where everyone has a voice.
Because we know different.
