    • My uncle and old sailor from Pearl Harbour let me shoot a 410 then a 38spĺ. I couldn’t hit a 2×12 with the shotgun but split it in half with pistol. I will never forget it. He was called Pipey but reminded me of Popeye anchor tat and all. Language was a bit worse

  1. That’s why Pops started us with a .22, and then we moved up to a 12 gauge with quail/dove loads when we were big enough to handle it. He also sawed off a chunk of the stock so it fit our body frame.

  2. I was 8 when Dad had me do that, believe that kid was younger.

Gotta love redneck Dads, gotta putuh beed ownit.

  3. My first 12ga pull was at 8 1/2.
    Similar result. It was 26””
    dbl barrel -heavy.
Got the pigeon on the top of the tin roof, though.
After that, I got to use a 12g single barrel with a “ .410-er” in it. much more manageable.

  4. A rite of passage for my kids was the 1917 Lee-Enfield .303. Once they new how to shoot safely they could ask to shoot it. Oldest was about 8, middle about the same, the youngest, daughter, was about 7. Rifle was taller then her! They all want that rifle when I die…LOL
