Bear Claw caught it the other day in a bo-punk little pond in the back woods of Okiehoma. and put his boot alongside to get an idea how big it is. Said it was a female full of eggs so he put her back to populate the pond. I am envious and jealous as heck!

Nice!
That’s a biggun, no doubt. Good call on throwing her back, in this case.
Congrats! That is a “goodun”!
It’s pretty rare to have a child wearing boots handy.
Innerwebz comment of the day Nolan, touché
Although this was a way stop on the way back from Crosby, Tx seeing my granddaughters. Hope to have them here in May
Then the fish will be bigger.
BBBBWWWWWWAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHAAAHH!
Small farm ponds are where the biggest lunkers are. Caught one in a Nebraska farm pond similar to that when I was 12ish. Never caught a bigger bass since.
Nice fish!!
Damn nice fish Bear Claw.
Good call putting it back. Nice fish.
Cow pond bass usually taste a bit like dirt..especially if the cows use the pond. I grew up catching fish like that.
Well, it is OKLAHOMA after all, so……
Queers and steers, which one am I, stay tuned to fa and fo.
In Oklahoma, don’t that depend on whether you root for OU or OSU?
In Texas, the steers ‘n queers teams are A&M and U-T.
I heard that in Officer and a Gentleman, What’s funny is the actor questioned is from Oklahoma
Before this no rifle so shot at some hogs with my pistol not sure I hit. Went back yesterday it was 40 degrees and blowing. Slow, caught a few, I like to fish that much.
Grew up riding horses, camping and fishing on this pond. My Dad was born on this land. It’s my cousins, oldest family owned ranch in Oklahoma. 1868, started with my great Aunts 160 acre Indian allotment. It has grown since then.
That boot is a size 12
ps guessing it was 5 or 6 pounder
We have a bunch of little horse watering ponds still in the southern part of the Delmarva peninsula. As noted above, they can produce some remarkable fish.
Most of the ponds down here are the result of dams. There’s one in the middle of my town, the dam marks the last tidal bit of the river, and it’s 6-7 miles or so from the salt water. The “lake” is maybe 6 acres. A few folks had noticed some very large feeding swirls here and there. Two years ago, a local guy pulled a 40” striped bass out. Near as anyone can figure, someone caught a juvenile striper at the base of the dam and tossed it over the top…
The juvenile stripers will come upstream to hunt occasionally.
Oklahoma has to lakes that are Mecca for big stripers Texoma and Keystone by Tulsa
