You suppose they will cut communications before the nov. election? Get a few guys, shoot a few transformers full of holes at a few substations, grab popcorn and turn on the tv. Shut down the internet? All viable options with slow joe and vlad.
A 7mm magnum from inside a work van. Or a large set of bolt cutters to cut sections of fiber out of the transitions from underground to aerial or cut the splice boxes that are usually near or on the ground. Don’t forget the satellite farms and their delicate equipment. Put a couple of holes in the cable bundle going up a cell tower.
Look under most highway overpasses. Fiber, water, gas, phone…..
No end of easy peasy problems.
My biggest fear isn’t the loss of communications lines, or even more supply chain disruptions. It is the loss of the power grid across the entire country for an extended period of time. Even the loss of it in just one region would be a nightmare.

Vlad started a war without thinking through all of the consequences. He thought he a real Army and turns out he has one that the Russian disease of corruption hollowed out.
Russian military production is entirely dependent upon western electronics. Putin has now been thrown back on 80s technology that was obsolete when it was produced originally. They have come depend on much from the west. Electronics is just the largest dependence. They are also close to having to close down some oil wells in Siberia that will never reopen either. They had to shut down a lot of wells back in the 90s and it took until last December to get back to the former production levels. Those wells run through permafrost and they freeze up unless they are kept producing.

Putin knew wheer the labs were because they were Soviet property at one time. Ukraine merely inherited them. They were biowar labs under teh Soviets. The Ukrainians were doing medical, both human and Veterinary, research at those labs. The US contributed funding in an attempt to keep the scientists at the labs rather than them moving to Iraq, Iran and China.
Russia gets their electronics from China, who stole them from the U.S.A., and have for quite some time.

Someone is obviously very desperately trying to go Germany into joining the broader conflict and enable world war III.
Germany has on and off problems with the radical left over the years. Things really blew up in the 70s, which was after my father had gotten orders to San Antonio. Germany went downhill after the victory of the Socialist coalition in 1969.
Cutting of the railroad comms line is serious, but also in line with the sort of thing the Greens have done over the years. The destruction of the Nordstream pipe lines is also consistent with damage that methane hydrate plugs are capable of. I have doubts the lines were hit with explosives simply because of the pattern of the damage, and the fact that one of the two Nordstream1 pipelines is still intact. Russians have had methane hydrate plug problems in the past. Their attempted solution on one of those resulted in the destruction of the line and the death of the guy they sent to heat the line at the location of the plug with a heating torch.
I have seen no results from any investigation, nor have I even heard of anyone investigating the breaches. Until we have an honest investigation, I’m not willing to state categorically what happened to wreck the lines.
All they have to do is send down a DSRV and see which way the metal is curled in the pipeline proper.

Remember only about a year+ ago when the Mississippi River bridge at Memphis had a crack in a beam? Slowed traffic to a crawl as vehicles were diverted to the old bridge for a month or so. Much of the traffic was diverted up/down river to the next bridges, many miles north and south. Just a wake up call to anyone that had the mind to grasp the enormity of what could take place.
The bad thing about that bridge is they had pics showing that crack several years before they did anything about it. Tennessee has one of the best bridge inspection programs in the country. But, the people that are supposed to deal with the faults discovered often take their time in doing anything to correct the problems. Tennessee has had bridge collapses, as a result, that caused loss of life.
When I was a county Engineer in Ohio, I put my Bridge Supervisor through inspection school, and paired him with my bridge inspector so he would also be aware of what needed to be done, not just through reports. Myself, the Highway Department Super, and the Bridge super discussed the needs and dealt with the problems as soon as possible. Bridges are far too important to be lackadaisical about them.

Indeed! The war is about two things resources, and be able to move on the Bessarabian gap and the Polish plain. Much of Ukraine’s natural gas in the Donbas, and they were preparing to develop the gas fields off Crimea before Putin invaded. Putin stole the drilling rigs and cut the Ukrainians off from their own gas fields. Neon production, which the world depends to make microelectronics, was produced in Ukraine and the supply has gone to near zero since the war started again. There were many metals produced in Donetsk and Mariupol for the world market that are also now drastically decreased as a result of Putin’s war.
