back in the 1990’s was walking down the street after getting lunch. and these asshole steals this ladies bag or whatever. she screaming and the asshole starts running his ass off in my direction. I just clothes lined his ass for the cop who was coming out of some lunch joint and running after him.
the cop yelled at me to stop, I just looked at him and said I didn’t do anything wrong and kept walking back to work. never heard a thing about it since.
mom told me I did the right thing. so, do I.
if more people did things like to this, the assholes might start to think before doing stupid shit like this. or maybe not, they not the brightest now are they ?
one of the main reasons why I stayed in philly until my parents pass on was to watch over them. NO BODY fucked with them while I was around. I made sure that message got around back then. two fools tried and a lesson was taught

the area was working class, blue collar people until they built the projects. after that. everything started going to shit.
took a while, but it did.
40 years ago, I lived here in my small city in Michigan, and there were neighborhoods that had factories with houses that lined the streets that workers and their families had built, and lived in, and worked their whole lives making steel, or automotive parts, etc. A very blue collar place, as well.
I moved back to my hometown, for about 10 years, and then moved back, and the entire atmosphere had changed. The factories had closed down, due to the auto industry dying out. What had been the largest gray iron foundry in the world at one time, during WWII, is now just a memory, save one small place that still produces piston rings.
The home owners that lived in their original homes are now gone, their children have moved on, and many of the neighborhoods are drug infested, hell holes.
Just on one main street, in one block, today, I counted 5, plus one on the way, marijuana provisioning center, now legal in Michigan. On one city block, here on Lake Michigan, in a small town, Muskegon.
I see this video, and I have to admit that I watched it 4 times, just because I enjoyed it so much. I know that you cannot do such a thing, at least, legally, but is sure does seem the fair thing to do.
It’s grainy enough that hopefully the shooter is unidentified. The knockout game should have consequences, unsure if these two had a history, but also don’t care.

I worked my way through college in middle to late 70s in East LA (Mexican Slums) and then South Central LA (Black Slums -Watts). I worked for the phone company in various things, first removing phones, then installation, maintenance, then network cable.
In all areas we had multiracial crews. East LA was safe even though it was heavy gangs. The worst area was South Central LA as it was open warfare. All of us got attacked.
The two worst I saw was I was eating lunch at a fast food when a gang saw some other gang member walking near the bus stop filled with people. They drove around and opened fire killed the gang member and five people and shot up the fast food. I had a bullet just miss me as I hit the floor. Later the police asked me what I saw and I told them I saw my ass as I heard the sounds.
The other was three of us went into the Projects very early, so they were still asleep, one would watch the vans, two of us found a woman that was skinned and killed. It was horribble. We called the police that would not come to that area under normal conditions and they came out.
Yeah, bastard got what he deserved. However, that shooting was not self defense. Punched guy was clearly headed out the door when he stopped, turned, pulled his gun and shot his attacker. That was revenge.
No doubt about that.
It’s still a lesson to any thugs paying attention.
How many more guys like him are out there that don’t give a fuck and will shoot your fucking ass anyway?

At that distance it pretty much doesn’t matter which kind of bullet you use, and I like my wheel gun(s). I prefer JHP, though.

and yes, court was a bitch. we did “win” our case against the asshole (he lived) but it did cost us close to 8 grand in lawyers

Having the shell casing does not, in real life, help the police find you. Unless you are stupid enough to leave nice clear thumb prints on your brass as you load it and also be on file.
At best it helps them convict you if they find you and the gun. Even then there is a lot of recent work showing that rifling and firing pin imprints aren’t nearly as solid evidence as was once believed.

Given the initial attack was unprovoked, if I were on a jury, I’d be happy to consider that self-defense.
Nitpicking about how much of a threat the attacker still posed is why we have such idiocy running the streets today. So to all of those of you that bring that up, you may be right about how our current disaster of a legal system would treat it. But you are part of that problem by accepting that.

Looks like self defense to me. There is no duty to retreat in most states. And the guy was still pacing around in a threatening manner, and he was still too close. Just because the guy headed out the door does not mean he was cleanly away. And if the guy was shouting threats, then you have to take him seriously, he has already attacked once.
