But for the first time in ten years I can actually see the tops of my toolboxes.
There was crap piled up clear over the tops of the lids when they were open a week ago.
I had a young guy who I worked with come over and between the garage and yardwork, we spent THREE DAYS cleaning shit. I took last Monday off because the annual Rental Management Company Inspection was on Tuesady.
He raked and bagged up two full truckloads of apples that had fallen, twice. Once the weekend before.
It cost me over $600 between him, the dump fees and gas just for that.
When the Inspector came out I took him over and had a little chat with him about that fucking apple tree. It has been a nightmare since we moved in here every year. I told him I had already paid the $600 , that the yard was clean 3 days ago and that there was already another truck load of apples on the ground. I was just out getting the mail and looking back across the street, that apple tree is at least 35 feet high and there are probably another two or three truckloads that still haven’t fallen off yet.
I told him I wasn’t looking to be reimbursed but I am pretty much done fucking with apples and having to pay to get rid of them.
This was last Saturday after he got done cleaning it up,

And this was Monday, two days later,

You can’t use them because when they fall they bust open and they make a huge fucking mess.
He said he is going to get the owners to cut it back.
Finally.
I am officially Medically Handicapped now and I literally can’t rake and bag fucking apples anymore and I already spend way too much time, energy and money hauling yard debris out of this fucking place in the first place, even without dealing with the apples.
But anyway, back to the garage, I have pictures.

Now that it’s all cleaned up, I started working on the Sprite again.

I got the sound deadener put in the passenger side today and actually started putting the carpet kit I’ve had sitting in a box for 5 years in it for test fitting. I didn’t get a picture of that, I had to stop and put everything away and cover it back up because the pain flared up real bad,.
I can only do a little at a time but I am chipping away at that little fucker.
I called that kid earlier to see if he can go with me to the local Pick-N-Pull wrecking yard tomorrow to help me find some seats to throw in it and get them home.
We shall see what happens tomorrow.
someone else’s garage Phil I was use to it looking like mine. Good onya brother, slick side that tree, tell em lightning got it.
If they are not your trees, you have the right as a property owner to trim every thing back to the property line.
HO-LEE SHITE! Man that looks good. I wonder which car will be running first, your Sprite, or my Celica?
The Sprite runs and drives but it will never, ever hold a candle to your rig buddy!
Aw, shucks…..Thanks, Phil!
There’s nothing quite as satisfying as a freshly cleaned workshop even if it only lasts a week. Years back my best friend had a shop that was hazardous to your health. Avalanches were common. One day I showed up early a told him we were cleaning it out. And we did. It was great! He sold some shit, found some shit and actually spent more time tinkering after that. Fucker died on me a couple years ago along with my best friend from high school a few weeks later. Now, like Stan from SouthPark, I have no friends.
I’d twist wire around the trunk of those apple trees or start spraying them with roundup on the regular ASAP.
We clean it so we have a place to put stuff.
Now that you have cleaned and put the tools away, can you find what you need or does it become a search?
That shop is immaculate compared to mine.
I haven’t seen the inside of mine in 6 months. I can’t breathe well enough to make a prolonged trip out there.
And I’m glad that it seems like you may get some help getting that apple tree under control. I can seriously understand your frustration.
Damn! Phil, you are putting me to shame with all that neatness in the shop.
Guess I also have to re-start cleanup and working on the ’64 Benz which has been sitting for 30 years……Sigh!
But first I have to find out why the 2005 VW Passat decided it does not need a working A/C… shit never ends.
regarding workshops – my workshops in all the places I have lived, have suffered from my habit of returning tools, leftover parts etc. from a completed household or other job to the workshop and just dropping everything on the workbench.
The only exception for some reason is combination wrenches – I always put them back in the separate tool box drawer for metric or SAE. Everything else – not so much.
Fix that apple tree with copper nails. In the base just below the dirt line. That way the chainsaw won’t hit em’ wen the cut t down.
Cut the apple tree down, use the wood for that smoker you were always going build, start smoking meat and fish. It is a great way for us old guys to slide into retirement. You owe me some smoked fish for this great advice! Smoked meat, smoked fish and cold beer, this is the meaning of life plus when you sit in your easy chair you smell like smoked meat! 🙂 WIN…WIN…WIN!!
I’m glad The Kid is still hanging around and learning some things while helping. Now I have to go out and clean my garage – you’re making me feel bad……

Drop this guy an email for parts for the Sprite. He’s a shit hot guy, can find stuff others can’t and he’s my first choice when I need anything for my B. basiladams@yahoo.com Not gonna bet the over on how long you can see your box lids tho.
No sauce, WTF. Yea I know its a lot of bending but I would love a tree that drops free apples at my feet so I dont have to pay $45 a bushel.
But I get the point, fuck them apples!

Don’t know what to make of this. Clean workshop – a wave of joy to see such goodness followed by a gut level “man, I really need to clean up my place”. Followed by, I sure hope he’s okay in the noggin as that ain’t the usual.
Damn, I was gone and missed this wonderful miracle! A cleaner garage!
