I keep all my pill bottles in a plastic bag inside my lunchbox.
I take all the bottles out and when I take a pill, I throw the bottle back in the bag to avoid that problem.

I usually do my daily meds by week. One bottle, six daily doses put inside and taken to work. My night time meds are left at home. And I take my meds when I get to work before day begins to mess with me. Works for me.
I’m fortunate enough not to have to take any pills regularly. My girlfriend has pills in 3 separate locations. The ones she takes in the morning are in the kitchen, midday pills are in the dining room, and nighttime pills are in the bedroom. I don’t think the bottles would all fit if she stored them in one place.
I have all my meds arrayed across the kitchen counter about in the order they were originally prescribed. Every evening I make a pile of night meds and day meds in two places. Once I get all of the meds into the piles, I take the night meds, then refill my water filter pitcher for the next day’s hydration. I take the day meds after I’ve had about half my first cup of coffee around 7:30 or so.
I use those daily pod thingies. Top half is morning and bottom half is night. Handy pockets for the days. Works for me.

Pill bottle (only one, thank God) is in the kitchen cabinet above the covfefe maker. Haven’t missed a dose yet.
pffft, Bear Claw enters the chat.
I think all of us have little rituals that help us remember things. Mine is moving the morning pill bottles from one spot to another so I can, at a glance, know whether or not I’ve taken them. The other is to put my pills in a little cup before taking them so if I lose my place in filling the cup, I can figure out where I’m at in the process. I’ve always been incredibly forgetful, so I have a lot of little rituals to get through the day.
With the exception of my Coumadin/Warfaren, all my doses are one-a-day. One Atorvastatin at night, I’m good to go.
It doesn’t help that I have trouble remembering if I took the day’s doses, but I have a “flagging” system that reminds me. Somewhat.
Old Age ain’t for sissies.
