Here We Go!

Scanning the headlines this morning was enough to cause me to start worrying, again.

This crap going on in Ukraine is already starting to have serious repercussions and it is only going to get very, very much worse down the road.

One of the issues that I have trying to communicate my concerns to The Wifely Unit is that she doesn’t ever look down the road. She pretty much lives in a week to week mode.

I try to look at things in a year to year mode at the very least.

You can see this from my long past posts and the Byline in the header where it says Documenting The Death Of America.

That came to me over ten years ago and it has proven to be quite prophetic here as of late.

What has me worried at the moment is the long term consequences of this war in Ukraine regarding prices and availability of quite a few commodities.

Between Russia and Ukraine, they produce ONE QUARTER of the entire World Supply of Wheat.

Corn is another biggie.

Not to mention scads of other things that are already in limited supply.

Ask any European about natural gas supply issues, they are screwed if Russia decides to shut the valve off.

Right now this morning, oil has already went over $104 a barrel, Wheat futures are skyrocketing, Gold has hit $2,000 an ounce at least once and someone dumped a huge load of paper on Silver that so far HASN”T BEEN DELIVERED.

Only 10% of the physical Silver has been delivered.

This is very troublesome.

If there is a run on physical Silver and it can’t be delivered there is going to be a MASSIVE reaction, GLOBALLY.

There is Blood in the water.

The food supply issues are only going to get worse.

Farmers are paying up to 4X more for fertilizer, if they can find it, than last year and many are saying they aren’t going to be able to plant Corn this year.

THIS IS A HUGE RED FLAG.

There are no Government food stockpiles anymore.

You are on your own.

Inflation is already causing serious problems as it is causing things like food and gasoline to eat up bigger and bigger portions of incomes.

Now throw in these projected shortages on top of that.

Things are going to get real ugly in the coming months.

All of this is happening by design, I have said repeatedly that the Commie’s favorite weapon is food, it looks like the fiends from the WEF are well aware of the power it represents when you control the food and energy supplies for an entire planet.

Just for giggles add in the Chinky Flu and their Death Jab program and maybe you will start to get an inkling of just how devious and serious these people are about wiping out large sections of the population.

Because we are on our own, I am not just sitting here watching all of this happening while sitting on my thumb and bitching about it.

I very strongly suggest that everyone else take a good look around at what is coming and take appropriate measures.

Ten years ago the media tried to label Preppers as circus sideshow freaks.

If you trusted the media, you are an idiot.

Soon to be a very hungry idiot.

  1. I said on Irish’s blog, if you aren’t prepared NOW you’re in deep doo-doo.
Noah didn’t start building the Ark when it started raining, did he?

  2. the big three are food, shelter and meds. learn how to grow food. get some seeds.
there are a few good books on these subjects, seed saving and square foot garden
save your coffee grounds- they are like gold for the garden.
learn to compost- more gold for the garden.
back in the 1980’s the state dept. gave a lot of money to some school to find a way for the poor farmers to fertilize their crops. what the school came up with was a mixture of wood ash and piss. works as well as the magic grow stuff, whatever it called. the method of farming in most 3rd world shithole is slash and burn, which will work for 2-4 years at best. crops getting worse as time goes by.
get a way to clean water without power, a biggie ! that and seeds and the know how to grow stuff will be a life saver. soap is also a big thing to have.
infection can and will kill you fast. garlic will kill a lot of infections if use on them.
real garlic, not pills or powder.
pool shock is good to have, you can make bleach with it. and with bleach you can make drake’s to wash and clean wounds.
when I moved to the woods, I installed 2 wood stoves. heat that does not need power to run. I can also cook on them,. cast iron cookware works great with wood stoves too. I also have 2 old time coffee pots, a needed item here.
there are a lot of things we are going to miss if it all goes to shit.
wood gasifiers will be worth their weight in beef then. if not more
and learn to barter for stuff you do not have/need when the time comes.
might rent the gasifier out for a share of the crops ?
think of what you can do to get yourself ready for this now.
time is getting short as the world gets more stupid every day now.

    • On the wound care thing. I recently went to Walley to get some additional bandage material. There were honey impregnated 4″x4″ and 8″x8″ gauze dressings from Bandaid which I had never seen before. I have read that honey is also a good antiseptic for topical wound care, so I bought a couple boxes of each and may get a couple more when I go next, if they have any. I also have jars of honey in my preps for that purpose.

      • got a wolf spider bite 2 summers ago, went to the ER and got stuff to treat it, kind of worked, then I remember that grandma
used honey on wounds. put some honey on the padding and dress the wound. so. I did that on the spider bite and all signs of it where gone inside of a week. but it was raw honey, not the store bought stuff. I too keep jars of honey on the shelf
with the other goods. and food items.

  3. gold and silver are nice to have and hold. but you can not eat either one.
learned a long time ago, that times of food and no money are a lot better than times of money and no food. I have a small amount of silver, coins .
but I do have a lot of other stuff like the books and skill to feed myself
and make things like a wood gasifier to run engines with.

    • I’ve been interested in wood gasifiers for quite a while now.
I may win up learning about them first hand the hard way.
If I had my own place and my own shop I would have already built one. Unfortunately metal fabrication and welding is something I have to do outside in the weather.
Right now it has been raining for the last week and more is on the way. I already have at least three fab jobs lined up.
It might be June before I can get any of them done the way things are going.
As far as I can see, our economy will limp along for the foreseeable future, the PTB don’t have all of their ducks in a row just quite yet.
If you are paying attention, you will see that there is already a resurgence of self sustainability all over the internet.
People are stupid as a general rule but when it comes down to actual survival they have always at least proven themselves to be able to learn quickly.
It’s the supply chain problem that is going to bite everyone in the ass.

      • “As far as I can see, our economy will limp along for the foreseeable future”. I just don’t think this is true. Things are moving really fast. Boeing just announced they would stop servicing Russian aircraft. The US and EU have shut down Russian airlines from their airspace. They are also stopping Russian connected ships enter their ports. Russia was offering oil at a 18 dollar discount and had no takers. The US froze the Russian central bank reserves (about 800 billion). Russia might default on their gov bonds tomorrow. The Ruble is now worth less than 1 cent. A wounded bear is dangerous, and Putin has said if we wage economic warfare on Russia he will bite back. Things are just too unstable. I give it a month at most. Guess we will see.

  4. Critical supplies get short, we’ll need a new word beside ugly. Look what people did for TP, imagine what they’ll do for bread.

    • Imagine what’s going to happen to all those who rely on the EBT system. Even if it still works, what if there either isn’t anything to buy or they can’t afford enough to feed their family?
Same with those on Fixed Incomes. That is where it will get ugly.

      • There was a book out, decades ago, called “The Great Reckoning”. Sort of a “fourth turning” thing, but preceded it by decades.

Had a great chapter on this very subject aptly called “When the Music Stops”

Keep in mind, EBT isn’t a mandated guberming thing, like SS and Medicare. When the budgets start sucking wind, they’ll me means testing for sure. And that doesn’t take into account inflation and scarcity.

  5. After wound care this afternoon, I stopped at a local supermarket that until just recently had no trouble keeping their stock full as opposed to the local Wally Weird where shortage were more common then clerks and yellow vets. The shelves were barely half full and when asked if when the will be restocked was given a shoulder shrug and a, “We don’t know.” You understand this is a very red state with a balanced budget and in fact a state surplus and local distributors and processors and there is a shortage? I am praying it holds together till the end of the month…

  6. Grew up on a farm, and I was used to seeing a lot of wheat fields in the area.
The the greenies decided to ‘improve’ fuel efficiency by adding gunk (that poisons the environment) to gasoline. Then we got this wonderful gasohol program.
Some people seem to think that the corn mash is thrown away – but it makes great livestock feed – just the extra sugar content was removed, and cows don’t care.
So the overall corn loss for feed isn’t as big as some seem to think BUT – chasing those silly govt dollars meant all those wheat fields were replaced by corn fields. Too many farmers who didn’t do this ended up being bought out by those who did.
So now there is a looming wheat shortage thanks to the policies from those drooling idiots in DC.
Wonder how long it will take farmers (if they can get fertilizer) to switch back to wheat when wheat prices start escalating?

  7. Conservative Treehouse is live streaming the uncle joey hair sniffer diatribe, not watching it of course, but did leave some snark in the comments.

  8. Hay Phil, it could be worse.
What if the main purpose of the mRNA jab was not to kill off a bunch of people right away? (Just a little bonus that it did drop 80,000 in the US.)
What if it’s main purpose was to dramatically reduce the bodies immune response for when a second vector was released? Say a hemorrhagic fervor like Marburg or Lassa or the well known Ebola.
Remember to make sure your enemy’s military is 90% “Vaccinated”.
The CCP does not want a shooting war where the infrastructure can get broken. It just wants the resistance to occupation gone.
No you don’t have enough ammo nor friends with hard hearts.
Do you have any real friends in eastern OR?

    • My brother has a place outside of La Pine Ore but I would hate to have to try and live off the land there.
High Desert, colder than shit and three feet of snow in the Winter and hotter than shit in the Summer.
The ground ain’t worth a shit for gardening either.

  9. making gasohol frim corn is a losing bet. sugar beets works better for that.
or cane sugar. down in south america that is what is used for gasohol not corn.
but the big corn lobby,,, anyway. download plans on wood gasifiers and maybe get a few trash cans of wood chips from the local tree guys. dried out chips make great fuel for your gasifier. I use the driveway to dry them, rake them out thin, give them some sunlight, and rake up again before it rains,
also saving my wood ash as well. run it thru a screen to get out the big chunks and then store in a old cat litter bucket. I figure helping out the guy next door with his garden means he will not be stealing food from my garden, I hope.
don’t even think about getting the deer out in the woods as everyone else will have the same idea. better way is to do a group hunt/ harvest to keep from wasting the meat. good luck with that.
kind of funny in a way, a lot of people around here thought I was nuts for getting wood stoves instead of pellet stoves. until the power went out last winter for 2 days.. seems like there more pellet stoves getting replaced with wood stoves in the past year. my wood guy sold more firewood in last year than the 5 years.
or so he said. people are starting to make changes in their lifestyle big time.
look for this to get worse as things we will want go higher in price as people wake up to the new way of doing things here.
I wonder if the country will still be together in 2024 the way things are going,,,

  10. Correct…there are no ‘governement stockpiles’ of food for the masses. Guess what the plan is…. If you are prepped and have food they are going to come to YOUR DOOR and take your food to feed the hungry parasites. THAT is the plan.

    • What can I help you with?
Nothing really. I’m just out for a walk.
      Oh you live around here?
Oh yeah, I’m a local. I live at Windsor.
Local huh? What you call Windsor I remwmber as wide open fields. It wasn’t too long ago we’d had a treefort there plus go snipe hunting, if you know what I mean.
So what brings you over this way?
Mister, why all the questions? Like I said, I’m just out for a walk.
Lemme tell you something sonny, I know you ain’t just out for a walk. Windsor being in the other side over there. Listen, I got eyes and ears, I see what’s going on.
Alright, if you must know. My sister’s cat wandered off two days now. I’m helping to look.
      Not here you ain’t.
      Says who? You?
Like I said, I got eyes. Your little sister found her cat this morning. And that was clear the other way. But I’m going to ask something of you before I chase you off. No one can’t be too careful in these days. So here’s what I got for you. The more we stick together, the better we’ll all be. Even the animals know there is safety in numbers. Especially in times like now. I’m asking that you join us. By ‘us’ I mean more than a few of us already, more than you know. Like I said, I got eyes and ears.

      ‐-‐———

It seems to me that when people talk of their AO, they mean to say they are more narrowly defining their borders. But when you enlarge your group, a benefit is enlarging your AO.
      Just something to chew on.

The above was offered in the style of writing of ERJ.

  11. You touched on it, but didn’t elaborate.

Fertlizer. Made from oil/gas. Ukraine, Russia, and China are huge exporters.

China isn’t exporting for reasons. That leaves Ukraine and Russia.

Yeah. Can’t fertilize, yields are lower. Buy inflated fertilizer, food costs more.

You should have been building a pantry all along. Like the old “men at work” song “underground” went – “…don’t come cryin’ for more. The signs were there you should have bought connections before..”

My suggestion for those in DFW is, hit a Fiesta Mart. Staples the Mexicans use are dirt cheap – 20 lb bag of rice $13, 15 lb bag of red beans $9, dried peppers are dirt cheap, last forever, and can spice up rice/beans.

  12. I have dabbled in silver for years, usually but on the downturn, and haven’t sold in decades. I have about 14 pounds of it stashed in “Casa de Wacko”, but it’s a hobby not an investment. I have made an “investment” in a couple of solar generator sets, I have 2 so I can run one keeping my refrigerator/freezers cold, and charging the other. This is the biggest hole I had in my preps, if I can keep them powered quietly, with no generator noise, I have K1 kerosene lamps, heaters to keep a portion of the house occupiable, I have a big Berkey filter set, and rain barrels to provide drinking water, and I have camping stove and propane stocked in for cooking discreetly.
I hope I never need to use all of them, but they are available if needed.
I don’t think it will get to the “Mad Max” level, but if needed I also stacked the other precisious metals(brass, copper, lead) deeply when they were cheaper.

  13. might be a good time to look into area alarms and the like.
boobytraps work very well if done right. I keep a bucket of about 3 to 4 hundred spikes in a bucket just in case, picked them up for nothing and they are a foot long
figured they might come in handy some day,,,
gasifiers will be worth their weight in gold when the music stops.
a genny is a nice thing to have, but if you don’t have any fuel for it ,,
