There’s the old joke about people who study psychology or psychiatry don’t do research they do ‘me-search’.
That is an old joke. I was a psych nurse and a behavioral therapist and it was a joke! I finally wised up after 7 years of trying to crack the heads of these freaks and just worked in OR and med/surg where at least I knew I was helping them heal, not dive deeper into their collective psychoses and anxiety make believe. I am so grateful I don’t have to deal with the freaks of today. A couple of months ago I had a vice president of HR at a local hospital try to recruit me for a directors position in their new behavioral unit. I told her $300,000 a year, I do not do direct patient care and get 6 weeks of vacation a year. She said she would get back to me…
