Long ago, I knew an old retired guy. He was a widower and liked to smoke cigars. He had beautiful roses around his front yard. He liked to stand out there, spraying his roses, puffing on a cigar, and chatting with passing neighbors on the sidewalk.
He would save his cigar stubs, tossing them in a five gallon bucket full of water. The water would turn NASTY brown. He would scoop some of that into his sprayer, then fill that with water, and spray the mix on his roses. Nicotine kills aphids.

Regarding racoons, a table spoon of Epsom salts, with a tablespoon of kosher salt, loaded into a 12 ga round, will also work.
