  1. Caribou on the left and C-123 on the right? Air America, Laos perhaps?

    • Yes, yes, probably although I’m not certain, and yes (Vientiane).

For extra credit, name the three other types in the pic. One is pretty well hidden but it’s there.

Credit where credit is due: I shamelessly stole that from Larry Lambert at Virtual Mirage, and if you’re not looking at VM every day, what the hell is wrong with you?

      • 3 in the back right are Curtiss-Wright C-46’s.. couple on the left as well with a C-47/DC-3 mixed in. I’ve worked on the C-46 as recently as 6 years ago They’re still flying hard up here

    • No C123 in that pic, flew in those to Panama in 70’s.
R looks like a Spartan but wheel pods are missing
L looks like a DeHaviland Caribou

      • The one on the right is indeed a C-123 Provider. Zoom in on it and have another lookit.

  2. Nothing ugly about anything that works as well as the PPS-43 (the sub gun in DMM’s #2). Those things will bring the hurt.

    • yup. hands down one best sub guns of ww2/ cheap to make. easy to take care of and it worked. and the round was good/lethal out to 200 yards too. about 50 more than the 9mm or 45 acp.
fired one years ago in the army and did hit the target with it too.
not a lot of muzzle climb if kept to short bursts
the Germans converted a lot of the PPSH 41 and 43 to 9mm.
the guys with the Waffen SS kept them in the 7.62 by 25mm as it was a better/harder hitting round.

  3. If it shoots and kills it ain’t ugly. Phil’s cricket is the most powerful of all

  4. I bet Phil takes the Noisy Cricket to the garage and turns it into a flame thrower.

  5. I work with this guy that spray paints his guns in whatever camo best fits where and when he is hunting. He re paints them all the time. I would never have thought of that. He says I need guns that are less collectible then what I have so I could do what I want. I’m not going to spray paint a pre-64 Winchester Model 70. He kind of has a point.

  6. #6 I shot one of those many years ago, it’s a Liberator. Holds a single 45acp. You only have to shoot it once to realize you shouldn’t do it again.

    • Yep, the intent was to use it once, Approach a lone sentry and strike up a conversation, ask for a light, and shoot him while he is distracted. Take his weapon(s) and split. Now you are armed, and the liberator gets passed to the next guy. He does the same,
