That’s basically how I learned how to wrench on cars – I used to hang over the fender watching dad take apart engines and putting them back together. For some odd reason, my brother never did.
Now, electronics was another story – my brother and I learned through trial and error and a “101 projects” electronics trainer we got for Christmas. We took off from there, most of it self-taught.
Programming was another fun thing, but back then mainframes were the only game in town, so we joined an Explorer Post that did programming on a Hospital’s mainframe.
Good times, good times!
That is scary, you learning about ‘licktricity at an early age. How many houses did you burn down overloading the wiring? Don’t get me started on an old hospital’s mainframe…
When I got the old Att k-3500, it needed brakes and ball joints.
I was working on it for a week (including runs to the parts store).
When I got it done, she said “maybe you need to hire it out next time because you look like you weren’t having fun.”
I told her just because I can do it and it needs done doesn’t mean I ever had fun doing it. (not really,,,,but)
Then I took the Silverado in for it’s 200K alignment and they told me I needed lower ball joints.
“How long will it take and how much?”
>About two hours and $450<
"Do it."
