  1. I am firmly convinced that the American public is hungry for a simple vehicle, without bells and whistles, just a basic mode of transportation, such as the older Broncos and Willis Jeeps… maybe with a few comfort features added. But no computers onboard, no electronic entertainment packages, and no surveillance packages.

With such a basic car or truck being built in America, we could see vehicles selling in the $15K to $20K range.

  2. This video provides info for “right now”, but wait until the manufacturers put a check into the engine computer to make sure the Telematics Unit is functional, and disables the vehicle if it isn’t.

John Deere is another example of this, and the Right to Repair movement is a reaction to ‘not owning’ the equipment you purchased.

  3. I’m driving a 2011 model. No comms package aboard and the vehicle will probably outlast me.

I recently drove a rental while mine was having some body work done. Ford Escape w/18K on it.

Everything in the car was a screen.

Speedometer – Screen that read out the speed in numerals. Radio and climate controls another screen. It’s no wonder new vehicles are so expensive.
