  1. Regarding the whiskey truck – I thought the lyrics were big BLOCK Dodge, as in either a 440 or 426 hemi engine. The car wasn’t black at all, but I guess the owner took some liberties with the song?

  3. Had a friend, who had a ’70 Roadrunner (in ’74). 383, High rise manifold, dual quads. I even drove it a few times. It was a violent machine.

  4. I’ve had a couple of Dodges over the years and they were actually pretty decent rigs. My only real bitch is that their electrical systems SUCK!

  5. In the Penrose Dodge car lot is a light beige Dart Sport exactly like the one I bought back in ’73.

    • The station wagon next to it is the same SW in brown my parents had back then. It had a 383, 4 bbl and was a raped ape when the pedal hit the metal.

  6. I do appreciate it.
I bought a Dynasty for the wife, after she wadded up her Cavalier for the second time. This was before we were married. She used to treat the oil light as an indicator of when to have me put oil in it. I picked it up for $125. Previous owner though it might have a blown head gasket. Turned out to be a rotted out radiator. Final nail in its coffin was when the water pump shit out. I was waiting to fix it when the landlord sideswiped it with a payloader.

  7. $1.07/gal looks good from today. But then, the whole nation was very angry. That $1.07 is after gas shot up from 89 cents in a matter of months; some places a matter of weeks. I was pissed. Everyone was pissed.

Ours was a Dodge family starting back with dad’s first car. Between my two brothers and me, we owned 15 MOPAR badass cars. You name it, we had it. We put in race cams when we rebuilt the engine in dad’s 1973 Polara with Edelbrock parts. He was happy as a pig in poop.

Its all gone now. We lived in the moment, no thought of the future, at least as cars went. Who knew a nuscle car with matching numbers would command such high prices. To us, they were toys.

    • This was during the carter administration, the first time we found out there was not going to be any oil anymore. BIG LIE from all the usual suspects. Shot up from 25 cents to 90 cents over night in mexafornia. Long lines at the gas stations, no gas at the gas station. It was very messy. 55 mph on all roads, that lasted for a long while.
However there were not any storages of food or other things other than fuel for your car.
Here we are again, just a lot worse than before.

  8. Dad took the family on vacation in our 4-door 1960 Dodge Dart in 1963. From Chicago to Mexico City and back. Mom never drank the water, and afterwards never Pepsi again.
