  1. The whole world can go straight to hell in the proverbial hand basket and I’d change that if I could, but I can’t so I spend most of my time securing my own little slice of heaven on earth in all ways the best that I can.

    • I’m with ghostsniper on this one.

Not only change what I can, but look for things to change.

Meanwhile, tiny little slice of heaven is fully functioning and ready for most of what I think is coming.

Ohio having passed constitutional carry in spite of sever opposition is plus.

Going to take my mom on a road trip. Get to see first hand if the vax has stolen her completely from me, or if it can be overcome.

Old laptop crashed and burned, I had no idea how invasive bill gates has gotten. It is an event to get out from under the MS thumb.

  2. Just trying to get ready. And get my “community” ready. It’s hard, I and my wife are old and even though the young and middle age are becoming aware I don’t know if there is time to teach them. 19th century farming methods that I learned from my grandparents and their families aren’t something that you learn easy in a short time. But I’m trying. —ken

    • Good onya Ken.
I truly believe in my heart that is why I am still around.
To try and pass on not only what I have learned over the years, but to pass on what my Grandparents learned the hard way during The Great Depression .
At least as much of it as I can remember.
The younger generations are literally clueless.

      • I get the same feelings, Ken and Phil. I’m willing to freely pass on what I know, but they’re aren’t many takers.

  3. Just preparing for life during wartime here. Has anyone heard any news about Big Country?

      • It did and supposedly he’s working on it. But his current alternate site, which is bigcountryexpat.com, is still idling since February.

Sure hope he and his lady are doing better.

    • I emailed him at the working protonmail address and got a prompt reply that he was indeed, alive.

      • He needs to stop blogging until the custody issue is resolved. Some of his posts could really harm his case.

  4. Just read an article that cites the Mississippi river is so low on water levels that barge traffic is being stopped. Also there are stuck barges that block what traffic can move. Also the barges cannot be loaded to capacity in order to maybe make it down to New Orleans port. This is VERY BAD. Grain is not getting to the export market and alternate transport costs 5 to 10 X what barge costs. The world dependent on our grain are screwed and our farmers are going to suffer as no sale means no future purchases until the weather dumps one heck of a lot of rain in the greater basin. What a clusterf*ck. Our internal prices will also rise due to increased cost of transport. Stock up on flour and grains if you need em.

    • Is this a result of inept dam management, releasing too much water? Haven’t seen any talk of it, but could be? (great, Another conspiracy.) The people who don’t want dams, complaining in a period of low flow: What, you think the low flow wouldn’t have come sooner than this when all the water went straight out when it fell or melted?

  5. Jeeze. Get ready? For what astronomical fuck up this world is handing out next? We have relocated to a smaller town, paid off any debt, and now are trying to increase stock as well as preps. Can never have too much. Need to re-start classes for family, such as comms and basic weapons craft, tactics, first aid, triage, long term care, bivouac, so much to go over. Passing on any and everything we have learned, as well as learning from the elders in the family. Kind of like herding marbles inside cats whilst under fire from idiot politicians firing constantly irritating pepper balls, all in level IV MOPP gear with cracked lenses and no chem paper.

    • Your message is is succinct and LOL funny at the same time, especially those last three lines. Thanks for the chuckle.

  6. well, the dollar is becoming more worthless by the week anymore.
in 2020, food was everywhere and cheap. now. shelfs are bare and prices are close to double what they where in 2020. diesel is again over 5.25 per gallon and going up. so. everything in this country is moved by diesel trucks, so everything is going to cost a lot more in the future. a four can pack of chicken used to be about 8 bucks, now it 13 bucks for the same 4 can pack. we go food shopping once a month as it is about 20 some miles away. had 2 carts like always and a lot of people just stared at us. it will get so bad as you are going to need to be armed
when shopping. kind of like getting gas in any demorat city now.
already mowing leaves up and bagging them to fill in new raised garden beds
figured to let them rot down before starting plants in them next spring.
gas is up 20 cents per gallon since last week. thanks Joe and clowns !!

    • I paid $5.23 a gallon for regular gas last week. The week before it was $4.23.
It went up one whole dollar in one week and it’s going to continue to go up.
In other news, pResident Potato is supposed to fly into Portland tomorrow.
He is so popular the damn Commie Governor of Oregon bailed out to Asia for more instructions on how to fuck us over instead of even being seen with the fucking cretin.
Saw a HUGE military transport fly into Portland this morning. Probably has something to do with his ass.

  7. Been spending some time over the past year driving around the local backroads, recon the turf, who’s where, what’s there. Good to know.

Have moisture absorbent in a very large ice chest with bagged dry goods (rice, beans, flour, sugar). Lots of canned goods. Been feeding the squirrels past couple of years. Raised bed has about 6 inches of veggie butts, coffee grounds, pit ash. Besides the dirt.

Son and grandson came down to drop a couple of dead trees. Clued them in on the tools, food, ammo. They live in a metro as we once did so we’ve encouraged the escape when/if necessary. Along with the younger kids. They listen well.

Scoping a water condenser setup: small solar panel, peltiers, fans, stainless drip. Not too pricey, got to pay off the missus’ knee replacement first. Kids found a spring in the woods next to us. Filtration plan in the works. Old towels, charcoal, box, boil, final filter. Worked in practice.

Can’t say enough about voting. Can’t always get what you want, get what you need per Jagger and Jesus. Keep the tires high, powder dry, and don’t sneeze into the breeze.

  8. Getting my name out for any small work I can scare up. Got some DIY biz cards, now I have to place them around. We’ll see how this shakes out. If I can ever get clear of the paperwork monsters, I will have some time to do around the house.

I agree with yall, trying to pass along what grandma and grandpa taught, as well as mom and dad (they were dust bowl kids)… Those skills are scarce.

  9. I have been stocking up hard for when, not if but when, SHTF for about 3 years now. I first concentrated on food and weapons. I can hunt/grow most of what I need so I’m at the point where I’m getting things many don’t think about; medical supplies, repair parts and oil/grease for my vehicles, cloth and sewing stuff, hardware (nails, screws bolts etc) some building supplies, everyday stuff you don’t think about until you can’t get it. I have the setup, and knowledge, for a still. Not for drinking likker, but something to run a vehicle with. I have a 2000 year model Dakota that has been set up with an old slant 6 Mopar engine (after a nuclear war it’s said that only cockroaches and slant 6 engines will survive) and can be run on ethanol. I have small windmill built that can charge batteries which then can power inverters, a usable well and septic system. I have bought additional firearms and ammo, not for my use but to be able to use as barter goods.

I hope to never have to depend on these items, but would rather be ready.

  10. I keep plugging the holes in the preps as I find them. Never know what’s gonna fail. Not every situation can be anticipated (for me anyways) so that’s where improvise, adapt and overcome come into play, or do without. Bought 15 more gallons of diesel for the diesel generator on Saturday. By Monday the price was up 30 cents per gallon. FJB.

Still using those poor whistle pigs for target practice, seven for seven. Is it wrong that I enjoy that? 😇

How bout you Phil? Are you on target for where you want your preps?

    • Not. Even. Close..
Like DirtyDingus above, I have been snagging hardware, lubricants, fasteners and materials for a couple of years now in anticipation of both the inflation and the supply chain bullshit.
Got the generator sorted out finally. It’s the food storage. I have literally been battling with my wife over that subject since before we got married 11 years ago. She refuses to stock up on anything, period.
I finally said screw it and I am not including her opinions in my preps anymore. She gets hungry enough, her tune will change quickly.
I have started to get rid of some crap out in the garage that I don’t need. I am going to use that space gained for food preps.
My little garden experiment wasn’t a complete bust, I still have tomato plants blossoming in mid October but I actually wound up with a small bucket of cherry tomatoes . First time I have ever tried growing them and I did it from the seeds that Food Grower sent me.
It was a very valuable learning experience.
I have started a sizeable mulch pile and I have plans in my head for small mobile raised garden beds I can wheel around like carts for next year so that I can utilize some otherwise unusable real estate.
I bought a new vacuum sealer and some mylar bags I plan on filling up here in the not too distant future.
Actually, I already started with some elbow macaroni and I have also filled up 3 flats of pint jars with dehydrated corn and peas so far.
It’s finding the time and energy as of late.
There always seems to be something I need to do for someone else.
That is something else I am going to be working on.

      • you are farther along than 99% of the population, good for you.
water, sustainable food sources, shelter and fire are what is going to make or break people. and oh yea, Zombies, you know who they are. we see them everyday.
i hope to see more discussions like this in the future here.

      • There always seems to be something I need to do for someone else”. No. Just no. Learn to say NO! Take care of you and yours first. Fuck the rest of the blood sucking ticks in your life! You are a good, kind, sweet, wonderful man that is truly appreciated in this Phil-nation. We love and appreciate you my dear man!

  11. Has WRSA been nuked like Big Country? All I’m getting is: “Origin Server Offline
Epik Parking temporary outage, Epik team is working on the issue right now.

    Try loading again”

  12. Too old and busted up to work, had about i year in food stored, this year trying to reach 3 years. Canning, drying and freezing has taken all of my available energy and time. Shopping sales and the salvage grocery store has provided lots of cheap processable food. Storing stuff that I can’t eat due to dietary restrictions for barter.
Personal protection covered too with extra in several categories.
Have generators but no safe storage for fuel, yard is too shaded for solar, still working on a solution.
What others have not mentioned is preserving monetary value, strongly recommend the less expensive alternative in hard assets. Bitcoin will be a disaster.

  13. Unfortunately (or fortunately), despite the endless warnings, the bulk of the younger sheeple are busy following fashion trends and buying the latest mobile phone/car/outfit on credit. They have been ignoring the messages between the lines and so the great reset will come to them as a total surprise as their world of instant gratification implodes.. Then, those who have taken notice all along will get by: with difficulty, perhaps, but they will get by.

  14. On a sort of down note, came across this projected nuclear target map this morning. In a couple words, we be screwed. The entire east coast from Portland, ME to the tip of FL and inland almost to the Mississippi will be one giant glowing cinder.

Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t still prep, however, in the event to Bribem’s nuclear holocaust, survival chances are pretty slim, IMHO

  15. Ive been worrying more about the threat of an EMP than a nuke. Trying to figure out what will and wont survive it. Any info on this or where to best find it would be cool. From what I have concluded it just wipes out electronics with boards, but not a 110 percent on it. I think vehicles with points ignitions will survive.

    • It is difficult to find info on the effects of an EMP, since the only actual EMP tests were performed back in the 60s. Sure, there was some test made with automobiles back in the 70s or 80s using some contraption that was supposed to simulate an EMP, but I seriously doubt the accuracy of its results. Most everybody knows about the US Starfish Prime EMP test in the Pacific, and how it knocked out some traffic signals in Hawaii which was 900 miles away, but few people are aware that USSR also did their own tests. From what little info was leaked from the USSR tests, it was reported that generators, starters, and electric motors were damaged. Some stopped working immediately, while others stopped working a few days later. Apparently the more copper windings they have, the more likely they are to be damaged by an EMP. Of course, there are also different levels of intensity for an EMP, the higher energy that one produces, the more things will get fried. One of the things I am concerned about, that nobody seems to consider, is the possibility of houses catching fire. The Carrington event back in the 1800s was a natural EMP event from a solar flare, and there are reports of some telegraph offices catching fire due to the overload of current coming into them from the telegraph lines.
Basically, consider anything electronic to be of no use, and if anything does survive, then consider yourself blessed to still have it.

      • attended a lecture on EMP at the war collage back in the late 1980’s. learned a few things. the big one. the US has at best a 30-40 day supply of food on hand. that includes everything
crops in the fields, pasture/herds warehouses and stores
even ships in harbor. second fun fact. they figured on over 60% of the people will be dead inside of 3-4 months tops.
over 95% of all cars/trucks whatever will never move again
under it’s own power. the so called rule of law will break down inside of a day in most places. you might have a week at best. smaller towns with a population under 2000
will have a much better chance than the cities will.
odds are better in the so called bible belt. areas near a military base stand a chance if not destroyed by a blast
again, the main problem will be food.
a lot of people there where taking notes like I was .
all those cheery end of the world films where the town bands together is a crock of shit. unless some person rises
up like the warlords of old to rule the place. the unarmed and weak will be destroyed by the armed and ruthless
and they wonder what is fueling weapons sales for the last 2 years ?
if you in or near any large city, get out while you still can.
this is not going to end well.
as the assholes inside the beltway will burn the country down before giving up power. if anyone start a nuke fight it will be those fools. the Russians are too smart to go down that road unless they are attacked by the same

      • I forgot to mention one other thing, along the line of houses possibly catching fire. Another thing that could might catch fire from an EMP would be lithium batteries since they have an integrated circuit as part of the battery.

  16. Beans, Bullets, Bandaids (and everything else)
As with everyone else everywhere else, availability of consumer goods is down while prices are up. Store shelves are arranged in an attempt to mask the scarcity of items but anyone looking can see the shortages. Parts stores are offering alternatives or nothing at all to what is needed. These problems are only exacerbated by living in a very small community in the middle of nowhere. It’s a long drive to any place else only to not find what is needed. Turning online doesn’t help much either as the supply side crush is affecting everywhere. It is what it is and should be viewed as practice for the quickly approaching time of you making do with what you have because there is no alternative.

A few resources for the lay person to ponder and hopefully add to their library –
Back to Basics – How to Learn and Enjoy Traditional American Skills, Machinery’s Handbook – virtually any edition,
if you can find them the John Deere Fundamentals of Service manuals – these apply to all equipment, not just Deere equipment,
    Practical Gunsmithing (or equivalent),
The Way Things Work – not super detailed, more of an overview but if you don’t understand the theory of operation you can’t figure out what’s wrong.
Finding Your Way in the Outdoors (maybe I should send Phil the course sheets for routefinding I put together for my kids when we were homeschooling them, to share)

I better stop this list could go on for a long time.

    Poly-ticks
Deliberate misspelling of politics because that is what we have – many blood sucking ticks who spend all their time trying to figure out how to line their own pockets at the expense of our lives, further, actually plotting the destruction and downfall of our country and for that matter the world. They put me in mind of a beehive or ant colony, from the most insignificant position to to those controlling the highest levers of power the world over, without being told they perform the duties of the collective. There is no means of discussing or reasoning with them and I simply refuse to waste my time trying to any longer. To express I’m disgusted with the lot of them would be an understatement. My fervent hope is the fires of hell will be stoked with their souls for all eternity.

Personal Health and the medical establishment.
The trust is gone, gone, gone. Went to see a sawbones a few days back. After waiting an hour and forty minutes past the appointment time I finally get a curt summons by a young nurse to follow her. Either she is all business or she doesn’t like me for some reason, with hardly a word she does the normal weight, blood pressure, etc checks and plops my ass in a room with a “the doctor will be in soon” before she is gone in the blink of an eye. The sterile environment, as most examine rooms are, has little to distract and the ticking of the clock is the only thing to break the monotony. Finally after another forty minute wait the doctor comes in. He seems very distracted, sits down facing away from me towards a computer screen and starts asking questions while typing up a storm. I interrupt his questioning and ask him if he supported this whole covid/fake vaccine fiasco. He starts off with a long winded spiel about the efficacy of the vaccine and the only way to end the pandemic is for everyone to get the clot shot. I stand up and tell him, “sorry doc, I’m leaving because there is no way in hell I am going to trust anyone this stupid with my health” and walk out. I don’t think he likes me either. On the way out of the reception area one of the young things at the counter asks me if I want to set up my follow up appointment now. My response is to drop the face diaper they handed me in the trash can and leave the office.

The results of past indiscretions, old injuries and and health conditions have surfaced more or less all at once and their combined pain and disability has crashed over me like successive tidal waves on a beach with a soul crushing and mind numbing effect. I’m not seeking solace, sympathy or comfort, rather just stating a fact.

The important thing is, though I have been forced to slow down I still get done most of what needs to be done. To this end I would suggest this to folks, at the end of each day make a list of things to work on the next day. Now I’ll be honest, Murphy and reality will kick your plans all to hell and gone but without a list of objectives it is all too easy to find yourself sitting in a chair thinking you should be doing something but getting absolutely nothing done. Case in point a few days ago I had intended to punch a bunch of post holes in the morning. One of the aforementioned results knocked that plan clear off the table. Instead of sitting around feeling sorry for myself I grabbed my list and after a quick glance went in the gun room and loaded some ladder tests of new components for the long range rifles. The post holes got dug a few days later. Take note, in survival always be doing something, time is a commodity you can’t afford to waste.

People and those who slightly resemble people
Piercings, purple and other colored hair, excessive tats, nose rings, gauges and other assorted displays of mental illness, even the more or less normal looking (by my standards) people are a lost cause.

You would think living in a small ag community out in the middle of nowhere we would be surrounded by like minded individuals. Let me tell you that is not the case. When I walk down main street I am about the only person I see that doesn’t have a fucking phone jammed in their face. I just read about a guy that followed his gps to his death due to a destroyed bridge. We can only surmise the actual particulars because he is no longer here to tell us exactly what transpired but I’ve watched people walk right into a light pole while thumbing the screen of their “smart phone”. These folks are the lemmings who rush to their death following each other. Any talk about preparing or developing knowledge, skills and practical application of said skills are met with a blank stare. Try to discuss the concept of self defense with them, see that rock over there? Your time will be better spent teaching it to do tricks.

On the topic of self defense, strangers are flowing through in increasing numbers and great numbers of them appear really sketchy. I find myself slinging on the gun belt more and more often even doing mundane chores around the place. We even lock our doors when we are working in the back of the place after an incident a while back. I had been working out back and came in through the back of the house to get a drink. While standing in the kitchen I heard the front door knob rattle and watched as it started turning. Three steps later I picked up my pistol from the stand next to my chair and greeted my unannounced visitor with a gun to the face when they opened the door a crack to stick their head in and look around. Fortunately for them I am sill in a mostly peaceful mood in a time with at least the appearance of the rule of law so I didn’t splatter their brains all over the door casing. My suggestion they vacate not only my stoop but the entire town was found agreeable to them and after following them for two miles out of town figured they would probably keep going. Yeah filing a police report is a wasted effort, many times the nearest po-po is an hour or more away. You handle it on your own or it doesn’t get handled at all.

As far as we can ascertain we are completely on our own when the shit hits the fan full force. I used to postulate that in a complete collapse situation nine out of ten folks would be dead or thinking about eating their neighbor within a week and the tenth person would be a like minded soul. I’m no longer that optimistic.

    Fun
In trying times it can be easy for folks to forget having fun. Do yourself a favor and find something in life to enjoy no matter how dismal the situation may appear. Just as we heard in The Shining “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” and we all know how that movie ended. Drop everything one day and go kick up your heels. I guarantee whatever task you faced will still be there tomorrow.

I need to go, have to do a brake job on an F250. See you on the other side

      • Salt is not a protein, it is a mineral, specifically an electrolyte your body needs. Unless, you are using to salt down your meat.

        • Salt can be used to cure that meat. In the event freezing/canning is not readily available.
          Non ionized salt that is.

  17. Just getting closer to and talking more to God everyday. Praying for all of us here. Keep the faith, the more I hear the more this thing looks Biblical.

  18. Don’t forget tarps, bungees, fire starters, steel wool, lightweight emergency blankets and a good lensatic compass. Start hoarding a stash of NECESSARY meds and store them in a waterproof sack. Parachute cord is another handy and lightweight substitute for ropes. Above all, keep your wits about you and don’t panic even when you’re scared shitless. Level headed thinking will keep you from doing something stupid that will get you killed. FJB!

    • Along the lines of fire starters, I would suggest having two or more working fire extinguishers on hand around the house, just in case riots come to your neighborhood should society collapse.

  19. Looked around while shopping this week, three different stores, Nalley regular chili is out of stock, canned veggies are sparse, some shelves in the meat section are empty, egg section is good, frozen food is good.
