It slows the airflow over the windshield, allowing the air to linger longer over the glass surface. A MUCH simpler method is to simply turn down the fan to medium and the same effect is achieved. Shoot, I thought EVERYbody knew this trick…
Here’s another “trick”. Park your car with the nose of the vehicle facing your heated garage door, if you have one. The minuscule heat coming off the door is enough to prevent frost from forming on the windshield. This works down to low single digits. It does not work in freezing rain, sleet or snow.
I just leave it parked facing the east. Windshield is clear every time I get in.
