Camping Saturday

Deathray’s cousin’s home built tear drop
This is an actual converted camper…
Monument Valley, Utah, 1952
The above and five below pictures are of Igor prepping and painting his and wife’s Beaver 34 Motor home in his driveway. Igor tackled the brown paint this year and will attempt the cream color next year. Yes, wifely unit caught his best side. It is a labor of love. I have been in it, a very nice camper!

    • It would take me about a day to paint your Sprite, I gots the equipment. I’d use the little gun…

The body work would take a lot longer, though, I’m really rusty on body work. Might take me a week.

  1. Nice work Igor.

    1. It that is a hot tub on top I’ll take it.

8.My gramps put a hitch on the front to launch to make it easier instead of jack knifing.

    • Actually, there was originally an eight-foot satellite dish antenna on top of it in the back – we took it off, that particular satellite technology doesn’t exist for it any more and it was a boat anchor and a cause of many leaks in the roof! I’ve upgraded a lot of inside equipment as well. Bought it for $6000 cash, put about that much in it over the years as well. Sometimes people will come up to us and go, “Is that a Beaver??!!” Well, duh, says so right there on the front. They ooh and ahh when we show them the inside, especially all the cool 1985’s technology that was state-of-the-art back then.
Believe it or not, the original owner paid $123K for it originally, we have the bill of sale for it!
At 4.3 MPG, though, we don’t go on many trips lately. 97 gallon gas tank, you have to take out a second on your home to fill the tank. Even filling the tank is a hoot, we have to restart the pump at least one time (because of the $150 limit programmed into the pumps!) so filling it up can take a while. It’s not just a getaway, it’s an adventure!!
