if you can get some shells with soft lead shot in them, fire just in front of the mob
that way the pellets bounce up into their legs and bellies.
back when I was a kid, the was some asshole the cops wanted to get out of a house. place had that old style oak woodwork and stairs. asshole was kind of hiding behind the bottom of the stairs. so the cops fired a dozen or more rounds into the oak behind him and let him bleed a bit. about 10 minutes later when they dragged his ass out, he left a red smear on the sidewalk
I never forgot that about bouncing lead into someone
I be willing to bet the new steel shot shells would work just as well like that.

A couple of years back, during a good run of actual steady employment, I picked up a Mossberg 590A-1. Retro style.

Word had it in Iraq and Afghanistan that when the troops would rack a round into The Street Sweeper, the muzzie ragheads would all scatter.
