Pushed the bumper in and my grill guard, the hood is buckled, afraid to open it, may not latch again. Pushed the fender back into the door so it won’t open more than three inches. The lady crossed in front of me from a center turn lane and I was doing the speed limit of 35 mph. A Valvoline oil change place workers saw the crash and they have outside cameras and had video of the impact. Her car is the picture below, her two doors took the brunt of the crash, she was alright, an elderly lady. My truck took the most damage. I drove my truck home and it has a slight pull to the right, I am hoping it doesn’t have a twisted frame… I am hoping the insurance company will fix it and not total it.

Her car:

If they total it buy it back. I have a 2000 white 3/4 ton parts truck with all the parts you would need to fix it. Parts are free to you. just have to get them from Texas to you. if you show up here at my house i could swap out parts in about 4 hours. busted knuckles knows who i am. 64 ford owner who he sent manuals to.
You da man, Matt – here’s hoping your parts can make it to Vancouver!
It’s over 1000 miles, doesn’t sound like it can make it in its present condition. Phil would have to see what got skewed.
frame should be good. usually just bends the bumper brackets
0% chance on them not totalling it out. According to their numbers, it’s worth less than repairing it, so just go buy another. They have discovered how much money is in the auto recycling biz, so they total out everything they possibly can.
Had a suburban totaled by an employee and it was really totaled. Airborne wreck had a few parts I hoped to use on other suburban. Insurance company wanted more than blue book good valuation. Couldn’t figure out what they were up to
I feel your pain. I was upgrading our 52k miles SAAB 9-3 with a view to running it until it dropped when an idiot geriatric drove out of a side road into the side of it. She had to cross one side of a dual carriageway and the central reservation with clear view for half a mile to get to us . . .
If it’s more than 10 years old, they’ll total it. No question. I had some insurance asshole show up at the house to inspect my truck while I was at work. It just had a dent in the bed from the idiot neighbor who backed into it. No frame damage, truck was 100% drivable. He listed it as totaled, then told my wife that if I wanted to sell it he’d 100% buy it from me at the insurance pay-off price. Fuck him, I argued for two months, finally got paid $600, and continued driving it for several more years. Then sold it for $4000, still with the dent. But they wanted to total it for a $600 repair.
Sorry to hear about your collision. I was lucky my accident happened way back in 2009. Kid hit me on drivers side of pickup which froze the driver’s door shut. Ever see a moderately fat man climb from passenger side to drivers side with console in between bucket seats ? For two weeks, had to do that – royally sucked. But insurance took the hit. After my $700 deduction, they ponied up the rest for a total of $2300. I doubt I’ll be that lucky in the future.
Again – my condolences.
Sorry, Kevin. That stinks.
Your frame is no longer a rectangle. Glad everyone’s okay.
Dang, that is sad to contemplate.
Seeing as I have been working on an older F250 for a couple of months and know a bit about frames from a number of manufacturers, would suspect a tie rod was bent a bit, the bumper support extension is likely twisted and not the frame. From what I can see, that is all repairable and junkyard parts are your good friend. In the event it is the forward of A arm frame, how free of rust is it and if sound, any good body shop can straighten it to acceptable tolerance.
Fuuuuuuuck…
