Best Battery Charger Review EVER!!

They have this vintage walk behind floor sweeper machine at work and the battery charger took a dump on ’em.

I suspect that the one that was on it wasn’t the original, one guy told me he remembers when they bought it 20 years ago and I’m pretty sure they hadn’t come out with “Smart Chargers” back then.

Especially ones that cost ELEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS!

Talk about some serious mark up!

If you look around you can find them for a Buck Fifty.

Anyway, I figured even that was a bit much just to charge some batteries on a vintage sweeper so I did some shopping around and found one that does the same thing for under fifty bucks.

Just for grins I decided I would would check out what other people who had bought it had to say about it.

The usual, until I ran into this gem;

  1. Thanks for the chuckles. I might just go and get one to have on hand seeing all my chargers are from the 1970’s and 1980’s with nary a chip inside. I do have a lower end Noco type but I don’t trust the bugger.

  2. FJB will probably use that on himself, the danger of that is that he might regain cognitive function and practical thinking.

    • I’m afraid that Brandon’s brain is long beyond jump starting. Actually, I’m not afraid.

  3. I have a Noco that I keep in the truck. I consider it more of a jump pac than a charger. It works well most of the time.
    I also keep a set of jumper cables 25′ made from welding cables. If they don’t get it done nothing is going to. YMMV.
    I keep a couple battery tenders around for the really cold months.

  4. I have a Noco 3500 (3.5 amps); works great, and I don’t remember what I paid for it, but as a certified cheap sob, it wasn’t a wallet buster. It’s not a lot of poop for fast charging, but give it time and the job gets done.
    If you’ve never had a good explanation of multi-stage charging and why, check out: RV Electrical Systems by Bill Moeller. I learned more about 12volt systems in a few pages there than I have in fifty years of backyard mechanics.
