  1. Damn straight! A jar of good corn liquor, or the like, is gonna be worth it’s weight in gold here before too long.

    • As long as it’s done by an old pro, or learned from one. The first few ounces of distillate is always heavy on the methanol (wood alcohol) and if it doesn’t kill you outright, it will make you go blind–methanol has an incredible affinity for the optic nerves. You gotta get past that to the good stuff.
I’m with Igor below; I’m much more interested in cooking up biodiesel. I’ll keep cheapo cases of liquor for barter goods.

      • Actually first few ounces is closer to Acetone , i mix with brake fluid to use like pb breaker spray . Waste not ,want not!

  2. For fuel(s) for our machinery. Don’t drink the crap, use it for something USEFUL.

  3. Saw a PBS show several months back. Host visited a guy who built stills, should have saved his name.

  4. Used to hunt feral hogs in Ga. on peanut plantations.
Had a guy that would allow me to sleep in a shack way back in the woods.
It was his retreat mostly and was nothing fancy. He was cooking corn liquior in a out building back there. I brought 5 gallons of it back with me. Still have 4 of them put up for barter or treating gunshot wounds. If I’m going to unwind and sip some whiskey, I prefer some Crown Royal or Jim Beam.

  5. A simple sugar shine makes an excellent base for medicinal tinctures.
That it can be flavored as one wishes and drank after a hard days work, while sitting on the deck enjoying the sights and sounds of the farm yard, is a happy bonus.
    😉

  6. Way ahead , have had one for years ; ) Made it from a stainless water softener tank. There is a company called Clawhammer supply, sells nice copper stills and also kits . Pretty reasonable.
