They had a push-start road next to the dragstrip at Fremont, we used to hang out there when the fuelers belched to life. The rails would bounce up and down as the motor leap forward.
Top gas, and Jr. Fuel were equally fun to watch.
That was before funny cars, but I did get to see the Chi-Town-Hustler lay down the smokiest burn-out at Fremont 1970.
Me and a buddy got to go to the Fremont strip for a MASSIVE car show right before they closed it down. I was thrilled to be able to go see that and still have some pictures.

One of the Chi town hustler guys was a relative of my friend
And Gary Dyer had his blower machine shop in Summit Illinois and grand Spaulding Dodge

Nothing better than an old fuel Digger. The noise, the vibrations, the experience of them leaving the line. Pure heaven.
Very nice! Nostalgia drags are a fun event at Famosa, Kern County, CA.
Those explosion blankets over the differential below the driver’s seat got my attention!
Badass, far beyond the sprint car owner who use to buzz around my old neighborhood and disappear before the cops showed up.
