David Allan Coe
David Allen Coe? As in you are a fan, or he sings pop songs with a Georgia twang? I like some of his song, but I am an old dinosaur, I like the oldies C&W…
Thanks Grog! I haven’t heard that one in a while, if it ain’t country I will kiss your ass…
I like Coe, he is pretty good. I like George Jones, Charlie Pride, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, Conway Twitty, all the old time greats. Alan Jackson, George Strait are not bad. But I never did like garth brooks. I had a customer once named Alan Jackson. When he called I always said Alan Jackson you are my favorite country and western singer. Did that at my wifes work, and boy did I get some puzzled looks.
Yes grog, David Allen Coe. As well as Whiskey Myers, Aaron Lewis, Riley Green, Chris Stapleton, Larry Fleet, and many more. Some of them somewhat reminiscent of the iconic country rock band, GOAT, Lynyrd Skynyrd. There is good country music out there.
And yes CederQ, Luke Bryan and his pop ilk can go pound sand.
You say you are a dinosaur. To which of that particular species do you most identify with? Asking for a friend…
Tell your friend, Argentinosaures tops out about 100 tons…some days I feel it.
One of the reasons why “old” country is so good…the dingers lived that life. They all seem to have come from humble beginnings, and they knew they had to get “outa there” in order to live.
I fucking HATE hick-hop
Modern country which has been around a long time – back into the early 90’s, sucks. All the same tune just different adolescent boring lyrics.
It has sucked long enough that Chet Atkins said modern country ruined country and he passed in 2001. Worst ‘music’ being recorded.
He isn’t much better but, Hank III did call the place Trashville. Straight and Jackson sang the song that spells it out, Murder on Music Row.
Waylon had a thing or two to say about it. Here he is with a pretty decent back-up band, so to speak, heh-heh:

And I absolutely cannot stand cliche king luke bryan. Eric Church and Chris Stapleton are about the only ones I can listen to these days
