A Warrior Laid To Rest

A tip of the hat to Plague Monk who posted about this recent somber event in the comments.

Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

Like most of us here, I grew up watching the Viet Nam War on television every night.

I still remember the “Burst Of Joy” moment mentioned in the video even now from 1973

Col. Robert L Stirm, the subject of that moment was recently laid to rest in Arlington.

Rest In Peace sir.

  1. God speed Mr. Storm. Thanks for that Phil.

I to remember watching that nightly as well, didn’t really understand back then but now I do and 55,000+ dead Americans pisses me off. Wish I could see into hell while those there who supported this are suffering.

  2. Lived just outside of Travis from 1962 to 1971 every day we watched C-141’s land full of flag -draped caskets. Didn’t watch much tv back then.

  3. Not quite as joyful as depicted. His wife had been having an affair while he was “in country” and filed for divorce shortly after this picture was taken.
