A Quick Look At The Vevor 1 X 36 Belt Sander I Got Recently
I saw a guy who musta had eight high dollar machines like that. I didn’t know what they cost. Sumbitches are aspensive! He got one of those one inch wide things. He was expecting to be underwhelmed. Nope. He was impressed.
Nice. I have been shopping/waiting for prices to go down on belt sanders. Yesterday I ordered a 2″ x 42″ Bucktool belt sander/grinder with 6″ wheel. Zon price dropped from the usual 230 to 203 range down to $179 – good enough for a tool used infrequently but absolutely necessary when you do need it.
Getting rid of the old Sears 1″ x 27″ belt/8″ disk combo. Also snagged a used but functioning Milwaukee deep throat portable metal band saw, now have that set up on a steel plate that I can clamp in the vise when needed. Again, another one of those things you need when a sawzall is not precise enough. Tool hoarder? Who, me?.

What award is given?
I may have to look at that. I picked up a Jet 2”belt /8”disc machine a few years ago to supplement the ancient Delta 48” belt/6” disc machine. Those small diameter pulleys are fantastic for contouring finger grips and hollow grinds.

Saw a guy at a gun show once using a machine like that to put an edge on pocket knives for a few bucks. Pretty good edge as I recall.
Was an effective sander, though.
When I was still turning wood, many, many moons ago, I used a belt like that to sharpen my lathe tools. Far, far better than a bench grinder.
