Cat litter works wonders. Cover it, let it sit for a while, grind it in and sweep it up.
Probably, the detergent powder, used dry, absorbed surface oil, same way that cat litter would, but it wouldn’t pull anything up out of the pores in the concrete. Dawn is well-known for working wonders on oil and grease. I can’t think of any benefit to letting that slurry dry out in between steps.
I used to use Tide detergent with a little water back 60 years ago to clean the concrete in service station garage bays. It worked as well as that in a lot less time. Scrub it in with the broom, wait five minutes, and rinse with a garden hose. Dawn didn’t exist back then. Just Dawn with a little water would likely do the job quite quickly without any of the other.
There’s some stuff called “Chomp” that works pretty well without all the bother shown in the video
Cover with Oil Dri and rub it in with your shoes/boots. Scrape the deep spots and sweep the Oil Dri back over the spots and rub a bit more. Sweep up the Oil Dri and put it back into a bucket for future use. The floor is clean. Much less hassle than all the confusion in the video. Been using that method for well over 50 years.
Used to work in an old Texaco service station 40 years ago. We wiped wet spills with rags then used plain cat litter and a half cinder block attached to and old broom stick with a coat hanger. Sprinkle a light amount of cat litter then use the block to ‘scrub’ the floor then sweep up the litter dust. The floor was poured a few years after WWII and it was spotless when I worked there. At home I use those large area drip pans you can buy at parts stores and use kitty litter to soak up anything that drips on them. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
