I’ve had more than one printer take the bounce across the yard when I’ve finally had enough of the crap. Next time it’s gets the baseball bat, like in Office Space.
So true. I only print about 8 pages per year, so every april 14th I have to buy another full set of printer cartridges…to print 8 pages of black and white.
There was a belief among printers that a special demon, Titivillus (also referred to as “the original printer’s devil”
This demon must have crossed over when computers and printers were brought into the electronic machine age, i believe i have had that demon in every printer i have owned
My printer problems have always been not reciting the magic incantation correctly.

I’ve been printer free for 10yrs. & I ain’t going back.
I’ve multiple printers. All are laser printers (a couple of black and white, and a couple of color), excepting one old IBM Proprinter dot matrix job I hang onto, as it seems I end up with a unique situation that requires an impact printer once or twice a year. All work fine (the dot matrix unit is used with a machine running Linux, so no driver issues to be concerned with) and all are old enough they don’t need any “phone home” to the manufacturer’s server bullshit to keep working.
Finding new toner carts cheap on ebay is easy, as these are now old, obsolete models that were once very popular. Eventually the supply will dry up, but so far I’ve kept them going, even installing new feed tires and doing a fuser rebuilds as needed. It helps that I once worked for a company so that repaired and reconditioned laser printers and duplicating systems, so I can practically break them down for service blindfolded.
I miss my old Dot-Matrix printer! I even loved the sound of it clattering away! I had to buy a new printer and bought a Brother Business jet with scan and I hate the damn thing. It has a fax function and I can’t turn the damn thing off and bugs me on occasion to hook up the fax and when you turn it on it plays a melody to let a blind bastard knows it is on, I don’t need an audio prompt, just a friggen red light saying it is on. I use a a USB cable and it wants me to hook up through my wi fi and I won’t let it, I at times need to print off medical charts and I need to have it hard wired as I do with my internet connection, a LAN connection. No wi fi.
I had good luck with the printer I had. bought to print off stuff I found online.
books on stuff you couldn’t find anymore. went thru 5-6 sets of ink and a few boxes of paper before I was done. but that was a easy 10 or more years ago.
only reason why I bought the printer was the older computer I had died with all of the downloaded books and I wanted a hard copy of it all. then I needed over 2 dozen binders to hold it all. ones I used often where placed in plastic holders inside the binders. it held up rather well after all of these years. the one we have now?
yeah. POS made by Brother that works only when it seems to wants too.
got started doing the book thing while working night shift at the VA.
when I retired and had to check out, the computer Dept. guys all knew who I was as they where also downloading the info I was finding and printing out.
one of them told me , it was the first thing he checked when he started every day.
it was a lot of stuff about gardening and he like.
